fur shits and giggles

Many people will lose a phenomenal amount of weight in the first two weeks of any diet. Again, most of this weight loss represents water loss in response to the caloric restriction rather than fat loss. Testimonials about rapid weight loss early in any diet should not be used as evidence of a diet's long term effectiveness. When one hears testimonials about good results from a diet, one should also realize that only the success stories get on the advertisements. We have no way of knowing how many people had no success with the advertised diet.

Are You Losing Body Fat or Water Weight?
Whenever you begin a new exercise program or diet to lose weight, it can be tricky to tell whether or not you are losing body fat or just water weight.

Some important numbers to keep in mind are an adult male?s body weight is composed of 50-60% water and a female?s is between 45-55%. This water is held in lean muscle tissue, blood, body fat, and bone. Muscle and blood are made up of about 75-85% water and bone and body fat have right around 25% water weight.

With this in mind, you can see how easy it is to confuse body fat loss with

water weight loss. You can even fluctuate up to 5lbs on any given day depending on how much water you are holding.

On average, you can expect that for the first 21 days of your diet you will lose a larger amount of water weight when compared to body fat. After those initial 3 weeks, you will have lost predominantly all the water you will lose and can now expect the majority of potential weight loss to come from body fat (hopefully, not muscle).

The best way to see how much body fat vs. water you are losing is to complete a body fat analysis before you begin your weight loss program and then re-assess every 2-6 weeks after that. Your actual body composition will give you a far better idea of what you are truly losing in terms of weight.

It?s not the total weight you lose, but the quality of the pounds lost?

And you are still wrong. I'm heading into week 9 of the "diet," and you are still harping on water weight. Your posted article even says after 21 days the water weight is no longer a factor.

But then again maybe the skinfold calipers and hydrostatic bf tests are all wrong and I'm just losing water weight still.

Shit, I wish I knew you were such an expert on the subject IO -- never should have wasted 3 years getting a Masters Degree in Exercise Science only to find out everything I learned was invalid based on your high school wrestling experience and a 30 second Google search.

Maybe you would get more out of eating your "Masters Degree in Exercise Science" instead of what you've been throwing down your pie hole.

GL on your "diet"

lol
