I didn't read that article, but no way that happens here. I have my bachelors degree, and I could be wrong but I think va and bleed are LPNs, so it wouldn't apply. Nickmdet is a RN too, but idk which degree he has.

They actually are talking about forcing everyone into getting their BSN. The biggest push is for "Magnet" status, which that is the biggest load of shit ever. There is such a demand, and if you would like all of us with a lot of experience and skill to bolt so you can hire a newbie with barely any knowledge set, comfort level, capability, or critical thinking skills but has a BSN....go ahead and call me back with a pay raise after that person kills someone.

It's so hard to see how they are going to truly do this, there are so many good RN's that really don't want to go back to school and deal with all that it entails. There is not one thing I will be able to do better because I have written papers on "Self reflection" or "How healthcare in Detroit directly affects kids in Africa".

Don't get me wrong, I want to further my education, but on my terms and when I'm ready. There is a definite feeling in healthcare around here and it's that healthcare workers are getting burnt out and sick of being abused and shit on none stop. I don't know about 6-5, VA, or bleed but the ER takes a toll on you and I'm definitely in the burnt out boat. Hate saying it cause I make top end pay, but when an ER is more worried about customer service and abiding by "The customer is always right" notion than doing what is right and doing what you are supposed to do it starts to wear you down. um, so I just got off work and yea I should probably go to bed now:sadwave:

I feel u, Nick!!

That magnet status is major bs, I'll agree! There is a push in our biggest hospital for everybody in nursing administration to get their BSN, but otherwise, no push here that I'm aware of. Who knows; maybe I'm more marketable now?:popcorn2

Basically the story is more scare tactic IMO, it states that there will be more people to take care of in the future.. meaning there will be an increased shortage of nurses. There is absolutely no difference as far as knowing how to care for your patient and knowing what to do if your patient crashes between the two. They take the exact same state board.

Sponge: If your friend just got a 20 grand pay cut then I suggest that person move.

I worked in a rural hospital and I would float between Med Surge, ICU, and ER.. Had to quit because of the ER,too many young adults and children dying because for some reason nobody knew how to drive a vehicle or ATV. My last day and we had a family of 6, mother and 4 year old died. The other 4 kids had a lot of trauma. Ever tried putting and IV into a screaming 5 or 6 year old? The piss poor adrenaline rush, trying to find a vein, and trying to keep it together at the same time. Can't find a vein, fuck you, there is no IV team here, you better find it, we need to knock this kid out now.

This scene still give me fucking goose bumps.

How do u move when u have two daughters around ten years old and putting them thru school while being divorce? Just not that easy and this isn't a scare tactic it is reality. I told u this prolly five months ago and now this has happen to this girl. This girl is no dope either because she got her RN when she was 16 years old. Dope with men tho. I think there should be some type of grandfather clause with people in the field as long as this girl but their isn't and it is a shame. I hope im wrong but i don't think i am. I have an interest in this to cause my girl is a nurse. She just finished her last class to get the bachelor and has told me this for the last year.

Yeah I though about that, hard to move with a family. I remember you posting this a few months back.
