The MTSU team (6-2) is coming off a overtime win over Auburn at Bridgestone Arena, and it will face nearby Belmont (7-4) in a pivotal game.

Asked whether the Blue Raiders are riding momentum from an overtime thriller, head coach Kermit Davis said his team has to create its own every day.

?You have to create your own momentum each day of every week,? Davis said. ?It was a good win Sunday, and we got through it.?

The Blue Raiders will play Belmont for the 36th time Thursday holding a 20-15 advantage in the series. MTSU is looking for its first win since 2011.

MTSU were able to limit offensively solid teams like VCU and Auburn and rank in the top 60 in the country in field-goal percentage defense (39.4).

?With some good experience on our team,? Davis said. ?We have to continue being a better rebounding team. We're doing good, but we're not (a complete team) just yet."

Point guard Jacob Ivory is expected to return after clearing concussion protocol. Although he tweaked his ankle in practice, Davis said Ivory will likely make a return to the court.
