Rest in peace Bo. You are a legend and will never be forgotten. May you and Woody enjoy "The Game" together tomorrow from the best seats in the house.

Yeah, I will never forget Bo. As a kid, I always wore Michigan football stuff and I remember one of my favorite t-shirts was "M Go Bo", lol. He had one of those larger than life personalities, and we will all miss him.

The impact on the game is really hard to judge. I already have UofM at +6.5 and +7, but it's hard to figure how this plays out now. Yeah, emotions will run high, but I can't imagine what Lloyd is going through right now.

Go BLUE, and M Go Bo.

was never a michigan fan, but never hated them either...but the one thing i will never forget about him is when he fired bill frieder, who accepted the asu job before the ncaa tourney in 89 and named steve fisher as the head coach

"a michigan man will coach michigan"

or words to that effect.

then michigan won 6 staraight and the ncaa title (as opposed to arizona who should have won!)

Man, we've lost another coaching legend. I was fortunate enough to have met Coach Schembechler about 11 years ago. He was in Indianapolis at of all things a Bob Knight Motivational Seminar (Tony LaRussa, D. Wayne Lucas, Jerry Colangelo). Bo spoke right before lunch and had me ready to strap on my pads and run out on the field for him. I got to shake his hand and talk to him for about 2 minutes. I asked him about Bear Bryant and he told me a funny story about how they were both coaching in the East/West Shrine game. Bo said he was all into coaching and that Bear showed up in his hotel room told him, "Aww hell Bo, that's what assistants are for, grab your clubs and let's go play some golf." :mj07:

RIP Coach.

since I'm a semi young wolverine (graduated in 2001) I've never witnessed the greatness of Bo, but from what I'm seeing and reading from espn...man it would have been fun to have been part of that era of michigan football...

I agree. You have to think, if Bo had a choice to watch this game or provide the deciding emotional edge for Michigan to win....yeah, you figure it out.

I can see Bo in heaven giving Woody the finger and saying "thats for going for 2, you son of a bitch"

Meeesh-i-gan wins this one for Bo.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
"When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing." ~ Bo Schembechler

"Momentum is the most important thing in football." ~ attributed to Bo Schembechler by Randy Walker (deceased Northwestern coach)

"A Michigan man will coach Michigan." ~ Bo Schembechler

As part of a "Michigan Hate Rally" in downtown Columbus on Friday night, a band named The Dead Schembechlers was scheduled to play. The punk band dresses up like Woody Hayes and sings song after song cursing Bo and the Wolverines.

Not on Friday. Calling Schembechler "OSU's most valiant foe," the band posted this tribute on its website:

"The band is crushed to learn of the death of Bo Schembechler. We named this band after Coach Schembechler to honor him as the face of Wolverine football. We have never wished ill will upon him in any way and have always wished him the best. When we learned that Bo had seen our web site and was amused by it we were delighted. We were simply delighted. He said to those with him as he read it, 'See, I still matter in Columbus!' That may have been the greatest understatement in football history. We believe that he took the band's name as the compliment that it was meant as and that he was flattered by it. We wish to extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to his family. We are truly sorry for their loss."

Two days ago, Bo was asked about the band that bore his name.

"If they have that name 'Dead Schembechlers' and they're making money," he said, "God bless them."

Bo Schembechler on Woody Hayes:
"I played for Woody, I coached for him, I patterned my life after him, and I consider him a great friend of mine."

Woody Hayes on Bo Schembechler:
"I didn't like the son of a bitch when he played for me, I didn't like him when he worked for me, and I certainly don't like him now."

Not a Michigan fan , Not a Ohio St fan , always felt something as a sports fan for these two coaches. Bo, Woody , great men. Yes they had their mortal moments , great men not saints. Whats wrong with passion ? Nothing ! I have a Ohio St hat and a Michigan hat. I wear the Michigan hat Saturday. Not a dime on it for me.
