NCAA is an utter joke. A terrible precedent. That said, under NCAA rules all games he played prior to reinstatement should be forfeits.

What good is the NCAA if they don't abide by their own laws? We have a basketball player who is still serving a suspension and they didn't find any wrong doing, but they actually find illegal activities here and it's ok?

The NCAA just opened up a big ol' mess with this ruling. IF any sports writers have the balls to call them out, maybe they reverse their decision. Either that or two years from now all Auburn's wins will be taken away.

Auburn declared him ineligible for the remainder of the season. the NCAA didn't ever declare him ineligible.

I don't agree with the whole "it's ok to shop your son" idea. But it goes on. This isn't the first time. And it's not a player's dad's responsibility to follow NCAA rules. It's the institutions responsibility. If a kid is shopped to a particular school and signs there, even if no money trades hands, he's ineligible.

Do any of you really think that no false-accusations would ever come out if the ruling was that Cam was ineligible by the NCAA?

Lankford that's wrong as well. Every booster as defined by NCAA, and athlete's parents, are considered the same as the "school". I get a notice every year from UT to remind me of the rules. If I buy a kid a car, he is not only ineligible the school is considered responsible.

cam prob knew. auburn prob knew. but it appears the NCAA is stiffening up on getting legitimate evidence these days. sorry USC fans yall were one ruling too late. but pretty sure they actually proved Bush's family got money though correct? sorry if wrong. But I doubt they ever prove anything in this case. Feds have bigger fish they are battering up to give a damn about newton.

Don't get us wrong we're not saying look at this Auburn is innocent as a baby and so is Cam. We're just glad he is ruled ineligible and this BS won't effect our season or his heisman trophy he can now clear some space for.

I'm just glad he's the only one out there........

aaah severely doubt anyone on this forum is that naive. even though they have been pointing fingers at Cam and Auburn during all of this and laughing calling us dirty, they have to be idiots to think their school doesn't give a dime to any of their players besides set "food money allowance"

Which Newton? If I remember correctly, you previously stated that Cecil Newton was the one that contacted the feds and that Auburn announced that in a press release?

IMO, ncaa declared newton eligible to ensure that TCU would not be in a position too play in the title game. If newtons out, south carolina most likely wins and the bcs and ncaa is in a bad spot with TCU being the number two seed. With newton playing, auburn and oregon most likely win, and make sure that the bcs and college foots do not have too worry abuot tcu playin in the title game.

I may be way off with everything above, but regardless its bullshit that its playing out like it is. I am not a fan of nor am I a anit- cam newton guy, but for him to be declarded eligible after how others have been suspended for similar stuff, wow i was totally suprised when i saw this today.

Definitely a strangely timed, strange ruling. FTR - I am an Auburn grad and will be in Atl saturday for our second defeat of the Cocks. I would be pissed too if I wasnt an Auburn man. I agree with the point someone made earlier in the post though - if the Means case was precedent, then this is the correct ruling. His coach solicited a Navigator from Ala, got busted, and the kid played for Memphis, without penalty to the kid. Forgive me if thats not the exact story, but the underlying logic is the same.

All that said...the score is still 28-27, we're still gonna win the Championship of the best football conference there is, and we're still gonna beat Oregon in Glendale. War Damn Eagle.
