Purdue played a tougher schedule (#69 vs. #84).
CMU outside the MAC was 1-3. Losing to Purdue 45-22, kansas 52-7, N.Dakota St. 44-14.
They defeated army (3-9) 47-23.
Purdue recruits better athletes, played a stronger schedule, has a better defense & kicking game (see post by bobby clue chip).
There is no way you can back CMU in this game unless you think Purdue is disinterested or that CMU may have a home edge or you can't beat the same team twice in one season.
Purdue already won by 23 despite 5 TO's. Painters got a 26/9 TD to Int ratio.
In my opinion, Purdue should be at least a 10-12 point favorite.
