I lost my internet connection yesterday afternoon; not only didn't I post any late plays, but I didn't even get any wagers in on the games (nothing on the Rose Bowl!!!! WTF!!!!), and then I fell asleep on the couch during the Rose Bowl wrap-up and never woke up during any of the compelling moments of the Fiesta Bowl, so I missed that, too. Beautiful . . . I was leaning strongly to USC and thinking seriously about the Under in the Boise game, so probably just as well on the wagering.

Louisville(-10) over Wake Forest (1*)
- - Both teams have been profitable for me this season, especially down the stretch . . . After all this Wake Forest squad has achieved this season that is way ahead of the curve for their program, my experience tells me that now hatching a serious ambush on this stage for the biggest scalp of all almost always happens in the context of squaring off against an opponent that has little to gain from their moment on the same stage. I see something much different than that with Petrino's Cardinals tonight. The pressure is squarely on Louisville in this one, but not in a bad or defensive way, IMO, and Petrino has delivered numerous times on the journey to this destination. The trajectory of his Big East program has been to arrive right here tonight and play to their fullest potential ("playing like their hair is on fire"), which includes a defense that can step it up far more reliably than last year, or the years before that, and also includes the tone of their build up and preparation for tonight on the heels of last year's bowl game spanking. Needless to say, Louisville not falling quickly behind by two scores (i.e., Iowa, Boise, etc.) will be pretty telling in the effort to cover a big number, and some distinction on defense and adjustments as needed to give QB Brohm the time he needs, are among the happy storylines I'm looking for from Louisville in this game.

Florida(+7')(-115) over Ohio State (1.25*)
- - Requires sufficient stakes for potential to bring my Bowl record to +/-0.00* . . . IMO: (1) Ohio State is the better team and will play an outstanding game; (2) Urban Meyer is a brilliant coach with all manner of blue chip weapons at his disposal to stay with a superior team in every phase; and (3) Chris Leak gets lots of chances to make me hold my breath.

Same time next year . . . :toast:
