Does anyone know what the line is on this game. It's being played on tues. Does anyone think miami is worth a look. I think Miami should be favored, and think they will be the play. Love playing unranked home favorites over ranked opponents.

hellah and i had this discussion about a week ago.

personally, i think its going to be the exact same situation as northern illinois/bowling green.

home team will be favored over the ranked opponent.

miami is probably gonna open as a 3 or 3.5 point favorite or so.

this is a dangerous game for the falcons. oxford is not an easy place to win, and miami is pounding teams right now.

I am interested in where the number comes out at but I guess it will be at Miami -2, personally I am more interested in where the ov/un comes out at though, both of these teams can score at will,

roy/todd:

i think youre probably looking at 58 or 58.5
both teams can score as we know. bgsu's defense isnt all that bad, which is keeping their numbers/totals down. miami hasnt played anyone good enough to score, so their totals arent as high as they could be. there might be some value in the over if its less than 60

Barring any unforeseen weather conditions if the number falls below 60 I would be surprised, too top notch QB's with the ability to generate points. I hope the number is at 58, I will bang the over (and I hate playing overs).

line really surprising. miami is very very good, but im still surprised by the line. im as anti-public as youll see, but if bgsu is public this week, then im public for one game. too many things in bgsu's favor here. just one mans opinion though

Line opened at 6.5. Now at 7.5 at some places. Please, someone tell me why everyone is on an unranked team at home laying 7.5 points to the #15 team in the country? Is this a trap?

I like BG and the points a lot. If Miami (OH) has a weakness, it is its pass defense. I dunno though - looks fishy.

Couple additional thoughts on this one:

This game matches up similar to BG-NIU in that BG was coming in as the home team not ranked as high as NIU and coming off a struggle against a very weak opponent. We all know what happened. Now we have Miami coming off a close game against a scrub and playing at home against this BG team that everyone is paying attention to because of their win against NIU.

At first I was thinking BG but now I'm beginning to think Hellah is right. . . can't wait to watch this one.

bottom line is that miami, northern illinois, and bowling green, all deserve to be ranked. im not saying that they SHOULD all be ranked. i think bgsu/niu/and miami are basically interchangeable. all 3 are very solid in what they do. and all 3 play their own unique style. miami wants to air it out. niu wants to run it down your throat, and bgsu is sort of a hybrid with the way they run and pass out of their spread sets. im sure the public will naturally be heavier on the ranked team, but i dont think its that miami is "getting no respect" or that "people have never heard of miami or know nothing about them". roethlisberger was a legitimate preseason heisman candidate and theyve played on espn a handful of times the last year or so (in fact, miami has played on national television MORE than bowling green). so i dont think the redhawks are doing it under the radar. all in all, this is going to be an exciting game. i still gotta grab the points, but oxford wont be an easy place to win.
