The more I look at this, the more me thinks this will be a brawl. Brawls generate stoppages, cuts, and things of that nature. Margarito is more of a rough and tumble guy than a polished boxer. Very aggressive and will let his hands go big time if provoked or threatened. Williams is not at an elite level in boxing by any means. What may start out as a boxing match will, I think , become a free for all. Tony M. throws those looping punches; a good way to get nailed. My head tells me a decision here is a strong possibility, but my gut says slug fest, IF, Williams doesn't run. Margarito won't. UNDER 11.5-115.

Agreed- it's a war of attrition here. I don't think Williams is capable of a counterpunching , off the backfoot style so it's two guys who can hit pretty good throwing 100 punches per round. Both have above average beards, so body punching will be a factor. I can't see the Mexican bad ass folding. Margarito TKO 11 with Williams corner throwing the towl in.

One scribe was saying how Williams really hasn't gotten a good taste of serious body/rib cage shots that Marg. will deliver. Also with Williams' long arms it will mean Marg. will have to bore in to do the body work. He may have to take two to deliver one. They don't have it lined at 11.5 for nothing!

this is williams step up. if he turns out to not be the real deal, he'll fold under the pressure. if he is, he'll outbox and blast the crap out of margarito. either way it should be fun.

I'm going against the grain here and taking Williams. The obvious knock is his lack of world class comp but I was impressed in his 2 fights w/Matysse and Sharmba. I was surprised he could take Matysses shots so well. He appeared to get stronger as the fight wore on. Margarito is a very solid good big strong welter but he can be had. Santos and Clottey showed that. I think Williams has a little more than those two. I like his advants in ht, reach, speed, and volume to carry him to a late stoppage or clear cut dec. I took Williams for an avg of +125 before the lines changed.

I like Williams also. Not sold on Margaritto. Just a little to sloppy for me. Thought that about Cotto also but then Judah did his usual brainless stuff to make me look bad. Will Williams pull a Zab? I don't think so.

Williams has shown no signs of having that self destructive mentality. He is a gamer and I think he'll fight tooth and nail to the end, win or lose. He just might be too much of a fighter for his own good. Like Hearns, he likes to stay inside a little too much rather than using his ht and rch. I still think he'll be too much for Margo.

I put 2k on Zab thinking he was right physically and mentally for the fight. After the low blow, I knew Zab wasn't into it. IMO he was already looking for an excuse. That fight ended a nice multi week streak for me. I'm hoping Williams will keep the post Zab streak alive. Best of luck.

The only question is how will Willy boy respond when he gets caught real good? And make no msitake, he will eat some very hard shots, like he hasn't felt before. Does he withdraw and play it safer, or does this prompt him to step and take the fight to Margarito. With Williams huge wingspan,Tony M. has to come in on him. Anyone see a cut/headbutt stopping this? Lefty's cause problems. So I am playing Margarito by technical decision if I can find it. Should pay +10000000000.
Oh yea, and Margarito will win because he threw out the first pitch at a MLB game last week. It's an OMEN!!!! I am committing myself to a sanitarium

Margarito has had a couple of fights end with head butts, so it is a possibility.

Theres a prop on Bodog at -170, that either fighter scores a knockdown, TKO, KO DQ... that's not bad. I believe Williams has a suprisingly great chin. Mathysse is raw, but he is heavy handed and he let a few bombs go that landed flush on Williams chin and at best they stunned him, he took two seconds to readjust and kept the ridiculous punch volume going. I know Sh Mitchell is not a huge hitter, but Williams wasn't thinking defense at all that night and Mitch landed as hard as a straight left he could throw right on the chin and PW didn't even blink. It's a tough call but I still tip the under because Williams likes action. Clottey was able to go into a defensive movement and cover up mode that is unlikely for PW. I honestly think AM had a shitty training camp for Clottey, and Clottey's hand was an excuse, no worse than AM's injuries. AM has a way of breaking your will.
Both are great body punchers and I'd have to think that becomes a factor. 11.5 rounds is a long time for what I think these guys are going to do and they both legitimately want to stop the other guy. Look at the weigh in side view shot at East Side Boxing. Williams looks skinny as shit and I heard he looked a little dry. There could be an X factor here with Williams training in Puerto Rico which supposedly due to climate has made a few fighters leave a little something on the island there not accustomed to training at.

i saw that williams started his career at jr middle.....and fought several times at 160.....so he`s a legit, big welterweight.....

my worry here regarding margarito is that williams will be throwing the straighter punches...vs margarito`s wide hooks and uppercuts....he had real trouble with lefty santos at jr middle...

and the clottey fight?...he was beating margarito to the punch time and again...and it sure seemed as though clottey was fighting one handed as the fight moved on....

all that said, margarito could go out and do a cintron on williams...

still, the odds make me wonder...margarito has the name recognition...i was wondering why he didn`t open as a bigger favorite?...i can`t believe that the casual fan knows much about williams...i`ve only seen him once myself...

sounds like the oddsmakers really respect williams.....

Oddsmakers create numbers based on their preception of who they feel WE feel will win. My understanding is that it has nothing to do with who THEY think is the better man. At Caesars Palace Williams was -140. And Clottey is a tough customer.

This is horrible cause it looks like this fight isn't anywhere that i can tell. NO dishnet, no DTV, no showtime. Am i missing something here fellas? I get an option to pay for a Roy Jones fight which i have no interest in but no option with what i feel can be a very good fight:shrug:

Cant believe everyone is on Williams.

I love Margarito in this one and that fight just reassures me.
Margarito whipped Cintron while Williams was winning but not dominating Matthysse.

Biggest Box play of the year for me>
Margarito(-120) for 600

If by 'everyone' you mean the four or five guys that hang out and talk boxing then yeah.

Williams was -109 earlier today and now hes +113.

That means that folks be putting dere loot down on Margarito, much like yerself.

Margarito wins then it will be a KO, advantage to Williams if it does go distance.

Adjusting my play on this one.

EDIT::::

Margarito wins NOT by decision +285 (parlay odds)
