Bearcats -7'
Major props to DOGS THAT BARK for the info. he posted on bowl games. SU winners are 267-43-9 ATS in bowl games during the last 319 bowl games. Teams that outrushed their opponents covered the spread 72% of the time during the last 6 years. Based on these trends, the play must be Cincy.
North Texas has a very slim chance of beating Cincy with a one-dimensional offense. North Texas presents absolutely no threat of a passing game. The Bearcats will stack the line of scrimmage with 8 guys to stop the run, and force the Mean Green's quarterback to beat them. Not going to happen! It hasn't happened all year, why would it happen now?
The only reason North Texas averages more rushing yards per game (182) than Cincy (141) is because the Bearcats do have a multi-oriented offensive attack. Believe me, if Cincy ran the ball as much as North Texas does, it would average more rushing yards per game. The Mean Green's average rushing yards per game is also inflated due to the level of competition.
I'm not saying North Texas is a bad team, but look at Cincy's schedule strength. The Bearcats non-conference opponents were a combined 43-19. All of their opponents combined were 89-67. Cincy played 7 bowl teams during the season.
Bottom line, Cincy's offense can beat you two ways and North Texas' offense can only beat you one way. When the Bearcats shut down the run tonight, North Texas will be hung out to dry. Don't forget, Cincy has lost two straight bowl games. I don't think the Bearcats will take this one for granted.
Good luck with your play and let's break the book this bowl season!
