Well there go my bets, pendent on Roark starting.
Max Scherzer will be available out of the Nationals' bullpen in Wednesday's postponed NLDS Game 4 versus the Cubs.
Scherzer carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Monday's Game 3 loss to Chicago, showing no ill effects from his late-September hamstring strain. He'll probably be limited to one or two innings of relief.
I think this is better news for the Cubs. Strasburg did not want to pitch this game. The illness is BS. He is extremely temperamental and difficult to deal with. Everything has to be perfect for him or he is off his game. I have a feeling Rizzo stepped in and told Dusty he had to start and then he got Boras involved so he could convince him to start.
I could very well be wrong, but I have a feeling something like this happened. I am not expecting a great effort from him today and will be surprised if he makes it more than 5 innings.
