Usually the most wide open race but may not be this season. Onlly a handful of horses, IMO, can win:

ORIENTATE-faces lots of other speed but he dueled Squirtle Squirt into the ground w/21:2 and :44.1 fractions at Saratoga and won fairly easily.

KONA GOLD--won this race in 2000 and was 2nd in 1999. He was beaten 4 lengths while running on a bad rail in last year's race. He's only had 2 races since Nov 2001 but at 8 YO, he's probably better off w/the less races. He has been a beaten favorite in 4 of his last 5 races.

SWEPT OVERBOARD--his race in the Met Mile would destroy this field but he didn't look good in his comeback at SA. He probably needed that race but I'd have preferred one more prep, and improvement.

CRAFTY CT--He ran 2nd in the race Swept Overboard was 4th but he had a lot of trouble; broke slow, rushed up, was in a little tight turning for home then had to cross over heels in the stretch. A very bad trip and still was only beaten by a 1/2 length. Very live longshot, IMO.

XTRA HEAT--Numbers seemed to fall off from last year but filly is still a threat to wire if Orientate doesn't break well.

Borderline contenders:
DISTURBINGTHEPEACE-steps up in class but he has won 6 straight races
BONAPAW-is 2 for 2 over AP track but he wired a Vosburgh field w/little speed. No easy lead Saturday.

Swept Overboard and maybe Kona Gold as overlays.....

I can't see Disturbingthepeace winning, but I can certainly see him picking-off tired horses and crashing the exacta or tri..

Definitely agree on Disturbingthepeace. Interesting article in a recent Blood Horse on the owner of this horse. He's a television producer who's produced NYPD Blue and several other shows but apparently he has admitted he has a severe gambling problem. He's going to be dispersing all his racing stock in the next 7-10 days; he's won a couple Breeder's Cup races and owned several horses who earned over a million bucks. But his gambling losses have been so heavy (supposedly has dropped amounts in the mid-6 figure range in one day) that he has to get away from the game. Not the most uplifting story.

TOUCH TONE # 5

TOUCH TONE # 5

This is a strange horse. He has had only one race October 5th after a year lay off. He ran third to Xtra heat and Day Trader.

Last Year in the 1 mile & 1/8 Haskell he took Point Given to the wire.

Horse has never been outta the money !

Good Capping all. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

I thought Crafty CT ran a big race. The speed wasn't stopping and the Lake druggie (aren't all of his horses) had to wreck the exacta for me.
