Bring back the Southwest Confrence

I don't know if this will get thrown into the college forum but there was very interesting big east talk in this forum so I'll give it a shot.

I think Baylor should be kicked out of the Big 12. Arkansas should take their place. With this I would love to see a smaller version of the Southwest Confrence come back. There have been articles and talk shows discussing this lately in the metroplex and it has caught my attention. I think this would be a great idea.

Here is my proposal for the confrence:

TCU
SMU
Univ. of North Texas
Rice
Baylor
UTEP
Louisiana Tech
New Mexico
New Mexico St.
Tulane
Houston
Tulsa

I believe this would work. It would bring back in state rivalries, and interstate rivalries without all the travel. Let's be honest what SMU fan gets up for a game against Fresno St, or what TCU fan is excited about a showdown with East Carolina. While these programs have been successful in the past few years it just doesn't get the students and fans very interested.

Just a thought.

Some people say add Southwest Texas St. to this list. I know their enrollment has hit a very high number, but I dont see them competing athletically.
