Sticking with Craven this week. To come in top 3: 7-1. Still surprisingly well valued.

Kurt Busch looks really good here, maybe a little on top 3 at +160. He's been so solid all year. He's got to come through. Arguably to most consistent guy this year.

Can't overlook J. Gordon in this one. He's 7-1 or so right now. If you could find 10-1 I'd be mroe psyched about getting down on it.

Also, keep an eye on Dave Blaney. Since Daytona he's finished 10, 8 and 3 when he finished running. And he's pulling about 50-1 odds to win right now. Good value on that guy. Got a couple bones on him to win and finish top 3.

Shrimp,
Myron is right! I suggest keeping your investment in the race to a minimum. It is Bristol and anything can happen here more than any other track on the circuit! This race will end with a lot of hurt feelings and banged up fenders!
Personally I am saving my $$$ this week and am just going to enjoy the wrecks ooopppss, enjoy the race :)
Good Luck with your plays!

Ding.

Thanks for the caution. It really was a crazy kind of race and a real coin flip about whether a guy crashes or not. Still, cashed a ticket on Busch which really got me even on the race.

He has been simply great this year.

I enjoyed the race. Real funny seeing some of the veterans get confused about where to enter the pits.

Take it easy and let's get 'em in the Lone Star state next week.

True, but Busch won two years straight. Gordon's won it a bunch. DW owned it. Wallace is good there. So, some guys know how to race it.

Even so, if it really is a "toss up" that means that there should be some value on the long-shots. But the top guys win here every year. Busch, Gordon, Busch, Stewart, Sadler, Wallace, Wallace, Wallace, Gordon. There's a lot of repeats there for a track that's supposed to be such a crap shoot.

Anyway, fun race.

A couple final thoughts.

I think Nadeau should take it easy. He has to realize that Newman is one of the most aggressive guys out there and there's a lot of racing left. He was telling Newman to use his head, but he should use his a little. Patience.

I heard they were calling #18 "Barney Labonte" this week because of the purple car.

Roush had a great weekend, but they say Bristol beats on your body not your engine. I'll be anxious to see how they do at Texas.

Shrimp,
Congrats on pulling home a winner. That is big words when the track in question is bristol!
Good Job!

You have to remember that the Vets had years to get used to pitting either on the front OR back stretch.

Then to make things fair the track redesigned to entrance to pit road. This means that not only did they have to learn something new that had to forget the old way.
Driving there takes every bit of a drivers concentration and pitting is more of a habit that takes second place to looking out for the other cars.

This pit raod design has only been around for a few years and in that time I would bet they have not had to make more than 5 to 10 green flag pit stops and it is probably less than that.

So with all of this in mind I could not understand why in the hell the crew chief was not on the radio pumping home the right way to pit. If I was a car owner I would be having some crew chief ass for dinner!

Once again congrats and away we go to Bristol's big brother Texas Motor Speedway!

Every monday I get a radio recap of nascar from a Craftsman driver named Donnie Nuenberger. He said at that track you can get so confused under long greens like that that you lose track of whether you're on turns 1/2 or turns 3/4.

No time to think. No time to relax. Throw in that rule change that says you can only pit on one side under caution and that's got to be totally confusing.

He's the one that called him Barney Labonte.

First to admit I kinda got lucky this week. Maybe bristol is tougher to bet than other tracks. BUT, check this out... Busch has had like 7 top 3's in his last 10 races (4 top 3's in 6 races this year), and you can get almost 2-1 on him being in top 3. That's a pretty nice edge right there. It's happening at a better than 50% clip and you're getting almost 2-1 on it.

I've seen similar numbers on Kenseth. I'm thinking about upping my bets and playing each of these guys to place coming up. I'm a little worried about the Roush motor at Texas, though.

Shrimp,
DW also called him Barney during the telecast.

To me getting 2 to 1 on either of those guys to finish in the top 3 is a way better bet than getting 40 to 1 on a longshot to win.

You are correct about the confusion and that is why the crew chief should have been all over the radio telling them where/how to pit.

I dont think you are going to see a lot more engine trouble out of Rousch. What you will see is a lot more races with a bunch of rousch engines up front.

They were blowing engines due to their efforts to get more power. We have seen the power but it took its toll on the engines. They have had two weeks to get that problem ironed out.

Good Luck
