Aren't we supposed to be getting increased help from the world, not losing it. Especially from the only country who gave substantial help at all. I can't blame them though.

I wonder if Dogs will regard this as 'chickening out' and 'letting them win' like he does Spain and the Phillipines.

It shouldn't matter much though, because as Charles Manson puts it, 'there are 35 countries with boots on the ground'. 35 countries totalling about 150 troops.

--------------------------

Cutback: Britain 'to reduce troop numbers'

LONDON - Britain is to scale back its 8,000-strong military presence in southern Iraq next month despite fears of worsening security in the run-up to elections, The Observer newspaper said yesterday.

It said the drawdown will take place when the 1st Mechanised Infantry Brigade is replaced by the 4th Armoured Division, currently based in Germany, in a routine rotation.

While numbers are still being finalised, the size of the deployment once the rotation is completed is likely to be 'substantially less' than at present, The Observer said, quoting military sources in Iraq and London.

It added that a military spokesman in Basra, the main city in southern Iraq where British forces are headquartered, had confirmed the scaling-back of Britain's commitment.

You just said the other nations troops total out to 150 troops but your article says that Britain has 8,000 troops over there? Either my math sucks or you're just too dumb to even read what you are posting. Good one buddy lol.

All you keep doing is cutting and pasting different left wing news articles. Maybe that's why your views are so skewed. Poor guy. Maybe you should use facts when you go to debate people.
And what's this about the other nations troops totalling up to 150?? You're not gonna make me give you the REAL numbers are you??

I agree with going after all who are threats and i feel Iraq was a threat, not #1 but still close to the top but it really is almost us men and women and very little help from anyone else, hell I say let nato take over and see what the hell they can do with the mess if all these other countries think they can do it better, and when is some-one going to talk about the good things the men and women have done for that rat hole part of the world not all the fuk ups that might of happened, we have rebuilt lot of shit you never here a thank you to our men and women and the men and women from other countries? It is done what to do well said long ago either flatten it all or let nato have the problem and yes i back our men and women and the removeal of a madmen and threat who let terror run wild in the country last how many years, but now time to just say fuk you put your own country and part of the country not just iraq but whole middle east back together with out us help and money, fuk them all let them rot that is my soulation, because no-one wants to help out and pull their fair share or not many other countries, and before someone from another country runs there mouth after this post, how many times has the us bailed you out with aid, food or money ect. hell we help to many people out sick of it all, time to take care of #1 our own people first the rest 2nd.

My god, are you stupid! It's hardly worth posting anything in here anymore with people like this just around. Please either learn how to read, or flick the sarcasm switch to the 'on' position.

I'm sure you're not too whacked in the head yourself to find out info, just as the rest of us are capable of:
There are currently 31 countries involved.
Equalling ~ 26,500 troops.
Takeout the UK's 12000....leaves 14,500 between 30 countries....or a whopping 480 per country.
Of those 30 countries, 23 have less than 500 troops involved....In fact 17 have 159 or less.

Substancial? Think not, man!

Iraq was a threat, not #1 but still close to the top
Right...So when can we expect to get to the real no. 1 threat then? Seems strange to me that things get 'mopped up' in random order??

and before someone from another country runs there mouth after this post, how many times has the us bailed you out with aid, food or money ect.
That's right, you've always got good old WW2 to fall back on and glow about!!
Like it or not, it's a double edged sword. If you want to be big and powerful enough to 'step in' and 'protect the world', then it stands to reason you are also big enough to help out the most, give the most aid where it's needed.
Hey, half the reason you went into Iraq was to liberate the repressed people, right?

bring the war to them before they bring it to us. Yes!

So, who exactly are 'THEY'?
Besides, you might not have noticed but there have been 94 terrorist attacks in the world since Sept. 11 2001 (until the end of 2003!!!..Plenty more since then.).

So, how is this 'war against terrorism' coming along, do you reckon?

bush's logic on iraq as a threat really makes no sense. in that case, isn't N. Korea a threat?? Korea?? China?? the Middle East??? what are we gonna do invade those countries too, because by bush's terms, those countries could be viable threats too....

I like to look at it the other way, Kdogg.

Imagine if Nth Korea up and attacked the US, because America was a viable threat to the Korean's.

I'm guessing the words 'pre-emtive strike' wouldn't be quite as popular then! ;)

"I wonder if Dogs will regard this as 'chickening out' and 'letting them win' like he does Spain and the Phillipines"

I'll let you know when I see what occurs---hard to make any assesment from media speculation if you know what I mean.

I will further add I find it odd since there were no prior terrorist in Iraq before we invaded as reported by same media that they have congregated there now.

I would gather from the going ons in Iraq and Afgan that the terrorist are making their stand knowing that free areas in this region will lead to their demise. They will give it everything they have. I find it quite interesting on their stratagies.
As they said initial they believed that the free world did not have what it takes to make the sacrifices and would not have the stomach for the bloodshed. It does not take an Einstein to see that is their agenda. They don't think the Iraqis will have the guts to proceed and maybe they will be correct.
They know U.S. and UK will not bow to terrorist demands on hostages but this has been big agenda for them--Why?? certainly not because they think deals will be made but to intensify their fear in the weak. They are hoping these terrorist tactics will have impact on population to discourage the fight against them. It worked in Spain and as we see in continued hype by media and whining by many here they are somewhat correct.
You may not realize it but the fight against terrorism is a war and the major battle and battlefield has been set. You can settle it now or have more of what the world not just the U.S. has seen in past decade.
The ironic part of this is that most of those in U.S. that hype freedoms we have here or preach on freedom abuses like the ACLU are the very ones that want nothing to do with the fight that enabled them to have these rights.

SO WHAT. WE DO APPRECIATE ALL THE US HAS DONE FOR US. BELIEVE ME WE DO. BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF MY POSTS ABOUT YOU BEING AN UNEDUCATED MEATHEAD.

PLUS YOU KEEP TRYING TO MAKE IT SOUND AS IF YOU SHOULD GET CREDIT. YOU'VE NEVER FOUGHT IN A WAR . AND IF THE US HAD THE EMPLOYMENT RATE THEY SHOULD HAVE- AND IF BLACKS WERENT PUT AT THE BACK OF THE BUS- YOU GUYS WOULDNT HAVE MUCH OF A MILITARY. ALMOST ALL EDUCATED AMERICANS DONT JOIN THE ARMY.

YOU SHOULD THANK GOD YOU GUYS HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE THAT GIVES ALOT OF PEOPLE NO OTHER OPTION THAN TO JOIN THE ARMY OR BEG FOR QUARTERS ON THE CORNER.

I WAS LAUGHING AT THE WAY YOU GUYS INSULT EACH OTHERS POLITICAL SIDES. AND STATED THATS NOT WHAT THE WORD UNITED STANDS FOR.

INSTEAD OF BEING DEFENSIVE AND CHILDISH WHY NOT TAKE PEOPLES ADVICE. YOU ARE EITHER A TEENAGER OR YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND LIFE AND WHAT GOES ON IN THE REAL WORLD.

NOBODY AGREES WITH ANYTHING YOU HAVE SAID. NO DEMOCRATS/REPUBLICANS OR CANADIANS AGREE WITH YOU.

EITHER YOU ARE THE SMARTEST KID IN THE WORLD OR YOU JUST DONT GET IT.

WHAT HAS BUSH DONE FOR YOU TO BRAG ABOUT HIM GETTING 4 MORE YEARS. STATE ANYTHING GOOD HIS PARTY HAS DONE IN THE LAST 4 YRS. IF YOU CAN
