Coach Hue Jackson announced Kevin Hogan will start Week 6 against the Texans.
Rookie DeShone Kizer has officially been benched. "This does not change the way we feel about DeShone going forward," Jackson said. "He has worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future. Right now, it's better for him and his development to back up Kevin." This has been the expected move all week after Kizer was pulled at halftime last week and Hogan came on to complete 16-of-19 passes for 194 yards and two scores against the Jets.
This will be Hogan's first career start. In seven mop-up appearances through two years, Hogan has completed 40-of-64 passes for 481 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Even without J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus, the Texans will be a defense to reckon this week.
