NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jameis Winston has an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder.



Rapoport adds it is an injury he may be able to play through, but the diagnosis throws his availability for this week against the Bills up into the air. On the bright side, Winston was able to throw after suffering the injury on Sunday, and he expects to play in Buffalo. Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start if Winston is forced to sit.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan named C.J. Beathard the starting quarterback moving forward.



Asked if Beathard showed enough to keep the starting job, the coach responded, "Yes. He did." It is an understandable move for an 0-6 team which could be in the market for a quarterback this spring, especially since Brian Hoyer failed to record a touchdown in three of his first five starts and looked to be headed down that path again on Sunday. Beathard's first career start will come against Dallas next week.
