Listened to radio show last night with Bills beat reports, Larry Feltzer and Leo Roth and both felt that Coach Williams has started to lose the players and he will be gone next year.
Cited these points:
1) Inflexiability in changing defensive line up.
* Continues to use CB Watson who has been horriable this year
* Continues to use SS Wire, a rookie who has been had alot of growing pains. Wire is clueless on pass protection while veteren SS Jenkins sits the bench.
* Continue to go with LB Robinson who looks like he is playing with concree boots on.
* Williams came in a defensive whiz yet Bills have not a takeawy in 8-9 games this year.
2) Offense not able to make adjustments.
* Opponents have throw a cover 2 on WR Moulds and Price last four games and Williams has not been able to figure a way to combat it. In Indy, M. Harrison sees the same cover 2 defense but Colts have found way to still get the ball to him 10 times a game.
* Has not been able to get Bledsoe to recognize the value of the short pass, hence playing into the teeth of the cover 2 zone.
3) poor coaching game decisions.
* This list could go on endlessly, kicking FG in 4th quarter on NE game on 4&1 when down 3 TD's, poor clock management in KC, kiking off to Morton in OT in opener.......
4) Inability to motivate players
* Bills were lifeless vs. Jets last week. Division rivals, playoff implications, revenge factor, etc and Bills come out like statues.
When the players quit on a coach, forget about it. I'd keep a close eye on this situation, especially in terms of shaking up the defense. If Williams decides to stay pat and play Wire, Watson , and Robinson then I would consider betting against the Bills here on out.
