i have to believe that cal....going cross country...on the road...to finish vs so miss.....and getting shtupped by the bcs...will be in a foul mood.....

i don`t believe that a coach this good...that has built this program into a national powehouse....that actually has a system that got kyle boller elevated to a #1 draft choice......

will wilt in their home state after being bitch slapped by the bcs...

tx tech gives up over 170 ypg rushing.....arrington is a horse....

cal gives up some passing yards....but they are used to seeing pro-style passing games.... after seeing them out physical usc on their own field,i have to lay the 11 in what looks like a solid spot...with a pissed off team....

the argumant can be made that cal will be down after being snubbed...but,i think tedford will use it as a motivational tool....

we`re not talking mack brown here...

anybody have a counterpoint...please weigh in...

thanks...

Long history of the teams that get jobbed not being motivated. All of the Longhorn's Holiday Bowls come to mind and KState against Purdue, West Va. in Rodriguez's first year. I would suggest listening hard to the players when the game becomes closer.

auburn falls under the same scenario...if we win, who gives a shit, auburn played a 2 loss va tech team...we lose, see the BCS was right, auburn didnt deserve a shot at the title. LOSE, LOSE for auburn no matter what happens. FWIW the auburn players are devastated for being the 1st team in history to go undefeated, win the SEC and not get a shot at the title....as for me, it sucks, but if we win i will claim a national title even though a trophy isnt involved much like USC last year

It really sucks for Auburn, not that I like them but I think these guys would beat both USC and OK. outright. It is too bad we will really never know who is the best team in the country this year. As far as the thread title, I can only think that Cal. is disappointed to be playing this game as a negative. They should easily cover the 11 normally, but I will wait to hear more about what is going through their heads closer to game time.

i feel for you,wareagle......it`s a travesty that auburn won`t have an opportunity to go for the gold......

it`s a balanced, powerful team that pretty much chewed up a damn good georgia club...

not actually having any personal interest in the whole scenario,i think that auburn and cal were absolutely dissed.....

they deserved better....

can you imagine the interest a playoff would bring?....it would be like the ncaa b-ball tourney.....well,maybe not quite.....but it would be great...

GW,

Cal has some injuries on the offensive side of the ball and at this point I am unsure just how severe those injuries are especially at the WR position. I cannot see a soft defense like Cal shutting down Tech and limiting their scoring but I know for a fact that the only team tech stopped on defense pretty much all year was a piss poor Nebraska offense that trues to run a West Coast offense without a QB. I look for this game to be high scoring and typically a shoot out favors the dog! As far as motivation thats a tough question, does Cal really want to be at this bowl? Nothing against the city of San Diego but you have to figure that Cal was pretty much looking at playing in the Rose Bowl and to get dropped to a non new years bowl located in the same state as the school has to be a huge disappointment. On the other hand Cal couldcome out motivated to show the BCS that they were in error but if you go back and examine the last four years of bowl games, you will find that teams that were anticapated to come out with an axe to grind typically disappointed.

Master Capper is right. CAL is injured badly at the WR position. Luckily for CAL, they have the nations leading rusher (arrington) who nobody knows or gives respect too. CAL does have solid defense but I think Texas Tech will cover the number. CAL def. won't be 100% for this game.

Cal does not have a 'soft' defense. One of the top three rushing defenses in the country and ranked in the top 6 (last time I checked) overall.
