Wahts does this say about the Pac 10 defenses..........I am sure Scott will throw in his 2 cents on this but really..........GIVING UP 40 POINTS TO A RUTGERS TEAM ON BASICALLY YOUR HOME FIELD!!!!

Makes me wonder about USC rolling through this conference........I just cant believe how bad these 2 teams have looked in their bowls games on the defensive side of the ball. Just the physical nature ASU got pushed around tonight surprises me...........

So. Cal
I agree with you in some ways. ASU was a different team when they played USC, they came off a very close loss against a very good lsu team. They clobbered a Northwestern team which they couldnt beat right now. They had been preparing all season for this game. So to say that SC almost lossed to ASU which got exposed today as being one of the worst defenses is unfair.

But yeah I do agree with you on not buying into SC greatest offense ever, better than the 98 broncos or 95 niners talk that is going on ESPN right now. They have a great offense, but I doubt they average over 30 in the acc or the sec conference this year. In fact EVERY team is putting up over 30 against pac 10 teams pretty much. BYU put up more points aginst cal than SC did!!! granted its a little out of context, but Rutgers put up more points aginst ASU than SC did as well.
Now there will be those that say sure pick two games of the year with the two bowl games that have been played but honestly SC hasnt faced a defense all year. I wouldnt be surprised if they game went under and Texas stopped the greatest offense of any sport ever (according to many here and espn). I think we can conclude one thing from these two games, is that Pac-10 teams have really good offenses but I think their defenses are equally as bad so they will prolly have a .500 record or so in the bowls. I could be wrong, and they all got favorable draws for games, cept for SC.

i do think asu is piece of manure and lucky to win, rutgers came ready to play and toyed with them much of night ... koetter didnt have troops ready at all, bastard ... USC is diff horse no matter how you slice it ... I think they handle texas ... dont compare scores with asu/oregon etc ... those teams are mediiocre IMHO

I think the ASU defense at the beginning of the season was more a product of coaches not being able to adjust to the new D coordinator, and with the ASU players with motivation.

It just so happens they played USC right in the middle of the season, which also coinsided with the time coaches started to learn what ASU did on defense with Bill Miller.

I am very excited for the defense next year, with the 2 Florida transfers and Loren Howard from Northwestern joining the line. That should make us at least average which could be good enough next year with our offense...and USC sans Leinart, White Byrd and that Heisman guy.

Not saying we will win it, but we should be right there.
