Southern California including the Los Angeles County coastline is currently experiencing a series of large swells coming from the W and WNW, which has produced some extremely large surf ranging from 10?-15? with even bigger sets. These swells are expected to run through the end of the year.
Due to the extremely large surf and hazardous conditions we are recommending that people not enter the water at this time. Lifeguards have responded to a number of distressed swimmers, surfers, and boaters.
While the County of Los Angeles Fire Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday weekend, we also want to remind everyone of the following safety tips;
While on the beach keep young children close at hand
Stay off all Piers , Jetty?s and Rocks during these high surf advisories
Check with your local Lifeguards before participating in any water related activity this includes swimming, surfing, kayaking, and fishing
