California (-7) over So. Miss
Dailey was 22 of 42 for 202 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted three times after being picked off four times by Western Illinois last week. These are numbers of a terrible QB! Rodgers is not a terrible QB, in pac he is one of the better QB's in the NCAA. Cal runs a spread offense something that So.Miss got a taste of vs. Nebraska. Cal doesn't commit as many turn overs as Neb.
Also the secondary for Cal is a lot better than Neb. They practice against a tough offense and should be up to the test of stopping Almond. So. Miss does have home field advantage and they do play better there, but Cal just has too much offense for So. Miss whose best players are their front 7. Look For Cals receivers to have big games, the bears WR are some of the best in the NCAA.
BC (-8) over UConn
BC beats a pretty good Penn st team and faces UConn that barely escaped a Duke team at Conn? Yes UConn has a great QB and a good running game, but Duke held the Huskies running game to under 100 yards. Also Dukes defense (Not good) had a couple of turn-overs against UConn. BC forced a lot of turn overs vs. Penn st including 4 picks! They have a quick defense and should be a problem for UConn. Tim Bulman and 'backers Ray Henderson and Rick Brown, limited the Penn State ground effort to just 73 yards on 21 carries.
BC uses a good mix of run and pass and will be able to keep the Huskies on their heels all day. The Eagles have a big strong O-line and should be able to open some holes for Andre Callender. Not only do the Eagles have home field advantage the Penn St win give this team a lot of confidence and UConn has to have some questions after last weeks close call to Duke!
