Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Start with thanks to all who responded last time:)

The Problem:
Scan disk starts, and never fully completes.

Tried searching back through threads, remembering someone saying you have to shut down programs that are running in the backround? Help:(

Back to the Printer not being able to print,
Error messages refer to the spooling process(FMonk got me to print last time), when trying a reboot things lock up and refer to the Hp deskjet is waiting for a response from me?

Have the feeling my Scan disk is contributing to this!

Franky, are you saying you're still having printer error messages? If so, what are they?

As far as the scan disk thing, do you have a screensaver? If so, disable it, and try again.

another thing, disconnect your printer cable. I remember you saying it was a shared printer, which could have something to do with it. Anything that is active basically has to be shut down completely. Antivirus software, e-mail, ANYTHING.

Also, see the little icons on the bottom right hand side of your desktop? right click on everyone of those and choose EXIT or DISABLE. Start scan disk again.

Re: Calling all Computer Geniuses.....

Scandisk first!

disable screensaver

shut down ALL programs running from the list you get by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL except:

systray
explorer

then start>programs>accessories>system tools>scandisk

do a thorough scan and check the box "automatically fix errors"

Lounge.......

Lounge.......

;) Did what you said,
when I got to....screen saver on (tab), it already showed "none"
I assume that means I have not had a screen saver running (after 10 minutes it always went black).

My Scan disk made it further than it ever has however before giving up this time:p

898,565 out of 1,251,953, looks like I'm 3/4 of the way there:) lol.

The only things running in my lower right corner is the Volume control which cant be turned off, right?

I bow before the computer guru gods.........;)

Franky,

You might also turn off any power monitors on your computer, on windows xp it is located with the screen saver stuff, I'm not sure on win 98 though. Make a note of your current settings if you are happy with those so you can re-config. Hope this helps.

Re: Ok, here we go........

dayam yo. that's a lot of weird stuff in the Task List.

You might have to reformat. Even if you scandisk there's no guarentee your printer will work because of all those HP drivers loaded...
