The status of Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson for Sunday?s game at Minnesota appears in serious doubt.
Johnson, who has a high-ankle sprain, was not practicing on Friday, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com. The Lions? go-to receiver, the 29-year-old Johnson also missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to Paula Pasche of the Oakland Press, Lions coach Jim Caldwell said he has made the call on whether Johnson will play, but a formal announcement has not been made.
If Johnson is indeed out, Golden Tate will be the Lions? primary receiving target.
Johnson has tried to play on the ankle injury in each of the last two games, catching just three passes for 19 yards.
Lions tailback Reggie Bush (ankle) also wasn?t working out on Friday, Twentyman reported. Bush, like Johnson, looks set to miss his third day of practice in a row.
Joique Bell will be the featured back if Bush can?t go.
