Big South Tournament Back In CU?s Gore Arena For Single Game Tonight

A year ago, Campbell hosted the Big South Conference men?s basketball tournament in its entirety, the Camels stepping up to stage the event with Coastal Carolina?s imminent departure to the Sun Belt Conference.

The Big South has a new format for its postseason competition to determine its NCAA Tournament representative and CU will get a home game tonight at 7 against Presbyterian as a result.

Higher seeds are favored in the new formula. The 10-team field features six byes and two play- in games to the round of eight on Thursday.

Campbell and Charleston Southern tied for seventh in the league standings at 7-11.

The Camels received the No. 7 seed with the Buccaneers landing the No. 8 seed.

The teams split their season series. The next tie break was record against teams at the top of the standings on down. Both teams went winless against the top three teams, leaving performance against fourth-place Gardner- Webb as the determining factor. Campbell went 1-1 with GWU, while CSU was 0-2.

Presbyterian College (1-17 BSC) is the No. 10 seed.

The Presbyterian-Campbell winner will play at second-seeded UNC-Asheville at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The Camels have some momentum from a 61-58 Senior Day win over Radford on Saturday as Chris Clemons scored 16 points.

CU defeated the Blue Hose 6958 at home on Dec. 31 and 70-57 in Clinton, S.C. on Feb. 11.

CU's G Kyre' Hamer is Questionable tonight.
