The first Super Bowl was played Jan. 15, 1967. Since then, there have been four instances in which a city has celebrated a World Series championship, then followed that with a Super Bowl trophy. So can Philadelphia, a city more accustomed to heartbreak than parades, become the fifth?

The Phillies did their part in October, beating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games. The Eagles have never won the Super Bowl, but they are playing well enough to make Giants fans a little nervous. On Sunday, they will try to get past the Giants the way the Phillies now make a habit of getting past the Mets.
The last time the Eagles were in a Super Bowl was Feb. 6, 2005, when they lost to the New England Patriots. That gave Boston a Red Sox-Patriots tandem, four months after the Red Sox won their first Series since 1918.
Baltimore was the first to win dual championships: the Orioles and the Colts were winners in the 1970 season. In Pittsburgh, the Pirates and the Steelers won titles for the 1979 season. New York celebrated Mets and Giants victories for the ?86 season.
