It was reported today that 80% of young Ameicans cant find Iraq on a map. When Colin Powel was asked if this was true he said yes. However he said the 20% that can are in the US military. :D

Good reply Powel . The miseducation of today's youth is sad.

Parents have a responsibility to educate thier children on religion, current events, and social behavior. When these are not taught do not blame the schools. The school should teach grammar, math, and science. "Home School" should be taught reguardless of what academy your child goes to.

Pet I would say all parents of those in the military know where Iraq is. Starting in about 15 days they may start to lose some of them. I wish that was not true that we could stop this some how before that. But it looks like we are going in no matter what. Only way we stay out of war is Sadam leaves the country. He's to chiken chit to do that.

i ment that 80% of kids. war situation is really sad, there
should be other way to solve that iraq problem. if war
really starts, where it starts next, north-korea ? sudan ?
kenya ? china ?

i would like to think that people who are responsible for sending other people kids in the war have been thinking this through really carefully, but somehow i just don't see any point to iraq attack ( in the other hand i was wandering when US hit
afghanistan with cruise missiles about five years ago, later we were told about obl and al-qaida link ). i hope the only reason is not oil.

take care

Pet very good question. Where are the mom's and pop's that should be helping. I have ahunch those who don't know where Iraq is on a map soon will. Yes Pet Iraq is a difficult problem that many Americans are haveing trouble with to. When it comes to terroist Iran is a bigger problem then Iraq. But Saddam most understand there are folks that want his head. There coming for it. His way out is to leave as the Saudis are trying to have him do. But he rather see his country go down. So many lives will be lost. Saddam feals thats ok. He believes the whole country wants to die for him. I can not believe one of his generals don't shoot him.
Well C Powel is going to show the world on Feb 5th whats up. I only hope we have strong eveidence. Last thing I want is my country divided on this issue anymore then it is now. Oil you mention. Well it has it's part in this. But we will never know how much. This more about unfinished business from 1991.

Vanished into vortex
I agree with the concern you guys are voicing, but I am in the camp that thinks there may be no other way to solve the issue. It is a horrible time in the history of the world that we are living in now when you must choose to kill so many for the maddness of a few. It is time the we take pro-active steps to protect our own though and this war may be an awful necessity. We can't sit around and wait for something worse then 9-11 to happen before we stop these things BEFORE they happen. Has anyone ever considered how much worse 9-11 could have been if those terrorists had smuggled some sort of chemical on board those planes as well? A few containers of anthrax or worse and things could have been mightly worse, and before you say it could not have happened that way remember we thought 4 planes could not be hi-jacked at once and used as weapons also.

WE must be pro-avtice in this fight today, and believe me I am not happy about it. We have several friends who's children have been or may be sent to the middle east and it is one of life's worst feelings to know they may not come back, but they are ready and willing to defend our country, I have never seen such dedication in young people before, I hope I never have to again. I hope it is not just a cliche when people say we need to thank God for these people in our armed services, because they really are putting their lives on hold in the line of their duty, many of them will not see their wives and children for over a year or longer because of their commitment to duty, their entire lives are litteraly on hold, if they come back at all. I too hope our leaders have thought long and hard and have exhausted every other option before making a decision like this.
