Canadiens assign Price, call up Halak

The Montreal Canadiens announced Tuesday that netminder Carey Price and forward Kyle Chipchura have been sent down to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

Price posted a 9-7-0 record in 19 games with the Canadiens this season, averaging 2.90 goals for per game with a .907 save percentage.

Chipchura amassed 11 points in 36 games with the Canadiens this season.

The team has also called up forward Corey Locke and goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Both players will join the team and will be available for Tuesday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Locke, 23, leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 28 points in 34 games and posted a plus-6 rating. Locke was selected in the fourth round by Canadiens, 113th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.



Halak, 22, played one game with the Canadiens this season. He played 19 games with Hamilton this season, posted a 9-7-2 record with two shutouts, a 2.26 goals-againts-average and a .922 save percentage. The 22-year-old has appeared in 60 career AHL games with the Bulldogs, going 32-24-2 with a franchise-record 11 shutouts.
