Clearing my mind with this ramble, as I lust
a BMW 328-I M optioned...not boasting, never had a BMW, been a car enthusiast since 1966, I am retired, NO kids, after working 35 years, we got a few mad dollars banked.

Cars (believe the word is a shortened form of "Carriage" the main civilized mode of transport way back when)

The evolution of cars I have seen in my 47 years behind the wheel boggles my mind.

My early cars had optional seat belts, plenty of power but inadequate suspension, tires (14 inches), am radio that barely worked or buzzed from interference from engine electronics, drum brakes, and vacuum powered windshield wipers....anyone old enuff to remember them?

As you drove, these wipers barely crawled across your windshield; let up on gas and they would go a zillion miles an hour, kind of comical back then, especially in Cleveland Ohio winter driving.

Air conditioning? Cleveland Ohio? Manually roll down the window or if that was too much, open the fly window, that was a good directional breeze.

Muscle cars sprung up mid 60's thru 1971...I had my share...Chrysler fan, Cuda, Charger....huge v-8's
..fast as hell, 9-10 mpg at best, 6 second 0-60....quick braking stops were always an experience.

Jump ahead, today..you have the best of cars....
V-6'S getting sub 6 sec 0-60, 19 inch tires, 4 wheel disc brakes, Sound systems for the angels choir, even Satellite radio.

Lost? Punch in Navigation, or call someone with your cell phone.

Gas mileage...with the transmissions, electronics, fuel injection and aero-dynamics, you have V-8 hemi's claiming 30+ on the highway...

Safety, unsurpassable...I survived a horrible Arizona desert wreck with my 2006 Acura....air bags, curtains, walked away with a black eye and slight concussion.... the same wreck in the 60's, they would have planted what was left of me, under a cactus.

Driving mode.....this is what has sold me on BMW 328-I

Thanks to modern technology, you can select with the flick of a switch, 4 different driving experiences.
Sport mode, comfort, eco, extreme sport...
Basically how do you want to drive today? Are you pissed off? SPORTS mode...got the wife along?
COMFORT mode (ball-gag not an option, (I kid)
Highway long ride? ECO with cruise. REALLY pissed off...EXTREME SPORT mode..
Cruising in the comfort mode and suddenly want to catch the Maserati Convertible with the blond babe? Flick the switch and instantly you are catching up to her in SPORTS mode.

All this orchestrated by a 4 cylinder, twin turboed, direct injected, highly motivated engine that is rated at 23 city, 33 highway.
Tires? 18 or 19 inch.

This vehicle is Rear Wheel Drive...the car is weight balanced 50/50...handles like a dream.

It is imho, the ABSOLUTE pinnacle of car and technology coupled ....in vehicles sub $46,000 includes free 4 year ALL maintenance.

If you get the chance, and enjoy the driving experience, take a test drive....
think BMW dealerships snooty?

I stopped in after volleyball at the Y wearing grubby shorts, sweaty t shirt and a worn-out ball cap...they were happy to see a warm body.

Above the Clouds....
The Adirondack Nationals are here the weekend after Labor Day. We've had reservations since last Sept and this is our 14th year there. It's a 3 day car fest with about 4,000 cars.

The best part is sitting in front of the hotel at nite watching the cars cruise thru town.

Hey Dead Money;
I too, was a MoPar fan, I had 70 Challenger and 70 RoadRunner convertible, still dream about that car.
Low gas mileage, but throw a $Deuce$ in and drive with friends all nite. Too many people collect these cars now, but don't drive them. Kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think??!!:Yep:

High dollar garaged dust collectors nowadays....kinda sad..

who would have thunk a $3200 1968 Roadrunner (looked at a gold one with 10 miles on the odometer in the day, opted for Cuda "S") would bring big bux today?
