North Texas +5 over SF ****
This line was 3,3.5 and now +5..CBI is best out or 3 in a series. Dons have to win tonight because the next 2 are in Denton if needed..
North Texas ended its season losing 6 of last 8 and getting knocked out in the 1st round of Conf USA...then with a losing record get invited to the CBI...its almost a joke...then they go play South Dakota who is 15-1 at home and kick their ass's 90-77...read all about the game... Coyotes were flat,no crowd,no motivation,etc,etc...I lost a few boxes taking SD...then NT plays Mercer and Jacksonville at home and again kicks their ass's 96-67 and 90-68..that's 3 games scoring over 90 pts...now 2 months ago I got to see North Texas beat UTSA 72-71...Smart the juco transfer was outstanding...can shoot and attack and jump out of the gym...Woolridge has to be one of the fastest gds in the country..Temara the big kid also impressed me but he is off the team...so in these last 3 games Duffy who I can't even remember back in Dec had 2 pts.Simmons the big kid had 4 pts and 1 rebound and Draper was put in and had 3 or 4 pts... I only mention these guys because all 3 have awoken from their Rip Van Winkle sleep and are kicking ass.. Duffy was hurt most of the season but in last 3 he has,19,31 and 19 pts ..in the games before that he has 0,0,8,8,3, and 5...Simmons has 13,8, and 9 pts and 9,5, and 17 bds in last 3 games...Miller in last 3 7,6 and 19...and 5,5,6 bds..Draper almost the same..then you have Smart who has 20,31,34,20,16. and 22 in last 6.. Woolridge 12,125,20,16,and 22 with 9,9,11 assists in ast 3....not sure what you call this...weaker competition..yes...somewhat...timing, motivation or what.the point is North Texas is on a roll...
teams can double team Smart but with Duffy shooting 3's and scoring its hard to stop both... NT has had an up and dpwn season...losing to some bad teams like FIU,FAU,UTEP,etc...but lets not forget they did lose to Marshall by 2 and lost to WKU in overtime..
Last yr when NT fired their coach I got to sit right behind Grant McFarland the Ark St coach...vs Texas St...small and skinny guy...but he had total control of his team and players...thought NT should hire Danny Kasper the Tex St coach...he had a great year and Kasper was a former NT player..but then read they hired the Ark St coach...thought it was a good move,,they play defense,share the ball and are disciplined.. something North Texas didn't have... well it might of taken a few months to get his tam playing but they shoot 3's ,play defense and pass the ball....
Dons are 15-6 at home.. they beat St Mary earlier in the year.. they have won 7 of last 9, and have 4 guys that are avg double d's and 4 guys that hit hit over 40's threes...they have won all 3 games in the CBI by under 3 pts ..they just beat Cambell by 3
the only common opponent was South Dak SF lost to them and NT beat them...with the added scoring from 4 players that did not do much during the season,Duffy,Simmons,Draper and Simmons and have Lawson,Woolridge and Smart think the Mean Green win outright....best player out on the court tonite is Smart...NT plays fast and is more athletic...
and before we all make fun of the CBI including me
in 2015 Loy Chi won it and 2016 Nevada....so who ever wins this series could be going to the Senior Prom next year...
