Hoss,

I e-mailed you the game this afternoon. Sent it to both e-mail accounts.

Was certainly closer then I would have liked......score slightly flatters Leinster as they were leading by only three points with 10 minutes left, but Ospreys had a man sin binned and after adding a penalty to lead by six, Leinster score a breakaway try after looking like conceding themselves.

Certainly sounded like a great game, which is more than I can say for the live game shown tonight, where Glasgow (+15) on the spread trounced the Warriors.

One play tomorrow in the competition. Apologies for the lack of write ups so far this season, but time has not allowed. However, the plays are as strong as last season, with as much work gone in as ever.

1 Point Llanelli Scarlets (-11) to beat Gwent Dragons at 5/6 with StanJames

The teams met in the same fixture two weeks ago, where Llanelli triumphed by 24 points. Quite why compilers think the result will be any different this time is beyond me. What I will say, is that the Dragons are very well coached, and will improve as the season progresses. However, at the moment they can only rely on their team spirit and the kicking of Lee Jarvis to get them the wins, and this will not be enough against the Scarlets, who despite being without all their internationals, still field a side full of class.
Scott Quinnell is missing this time around, which is a blow but there is class elsewhere in the team. The team has been with each other a lot longer than the Dragons, and Gwent cannot expect to compete yet, although this will change as provincial rugby in Wales develops.

Good Luck :)

I will post a YTD from September onwards, after the result comes in tomorrow.

Leinster 35-21 Neath Swansea Ospreys
Llanelli Scarlets 40-6 Gwent Dragons

Easy win as expected for the Scarlets, as they dominated from start to finish, even managing to pile on the points against the wind in the 2nd half.

Back next Thursday/Friday.

Sorry for this late play, but firms have been slow pricing up the game, and I was away last two days which meant I missed all the Friday games.

1 Point Neath/Swansea Ospreys (+3) vs Munster at 5/6 with Stan James

Very close to passing on this one, but I know I will regret it if the Ospreys win. On paper, apart from Llanelli they are at the moment the best Welsh province there is, despite all the players lost to the World Cup.
They have a very strong back line, which should the forwards get them enough ball, have the ability to do some damage. Admittedly, Munster have plenty of pace out wide, but Lyn Jones will have the Ospreys fired up for this one, and with home advantage, I take them to sneak it.

Neath/Swansea Ospreys 33-26 Munster

Nice to be on the right side again, but this was as good as rugby gets. I watched two matches today....the first being Gloucester vs Saracens in the so called 'elite' Zurich, and then this.

In terms of skill levels, and entertainment, the Ospreys match was miles and miles clear. Taking into account, so many player were missing due to the World Cup, it was a joy to watch, and can do so much to raise the profile of the Celtic League.

A shame we missed the Friday games, but normal service will resume next Thursday.

1 Point Munster (-5) vs Glasgow at 5/6 with PaddyPower

Siding with the better team here. If you take Glasgows away win at the Warriors out of the equation, you have a team with very poor form. Add the fact that on that paticular night the Warriors turned in easily their worst performance of the season, and it seems it will take a huge effort to come close to Munster.
They themselves have been indifferent of late, but were very competitive against a very good Osprey team last week, and have already won at Leinster on the road this season. They still field some very classy players, and with a good cup history behind them should find the trip to Scotland comfortable enough tonight.

The game starts in just under an hour. I will be updating after the game with the first two point play of the season ahead of tomorrows matches. ;)

Glasgow 18-14 Munster

Second loser of the new season on a night of cup shocks. Llanelli go down to Connacht in a massive upset, while Irish giants Munster crash out.

However, I am confident tomorrows bet will leave us in the plus for the weekend.

2 Points Edinburgh (-8) vs Cardiff Blues at 5/6 with StanJames

A nice surprise to get a line asking Edinburgh to concede only eight points. The teams are going in complete opposite directions at the moment.
Confidence is buzzing in the Edinburgh camp after upsetting Leinster in Donnybrook last week. They have proved repeatedly that they are the team to beat in Scotland, and under the leadership of Todd Blackadder they are proving to be a real force. At home in Edinburgh they are even more of a force, and with positive signs coming out of their camp all week, they will not fear the Blues challenge.
Cardiff in contrast are under immense pressure to turn in a performance worth credit. Due to international call ups, and a ever increasing injury list, they are without fourteen of their thirty six man squad. What you have left is a youthful team, dramatically low on experience. With coach Dai Young under constant pressure to get his team performing, they will not fancy this trip up north minus the core of his squad.

Bet of the season to date!

Edinburgh 33-16 Cardiff Blues

Nice to end the weekend in profit, after the disappointment of last nights loser. However, I was as confident as you can be on this game. My only doubt was that we would see a hugely improved performance from the Blues as a result of the pressure heaped on coach Dai Young. I think we got that and it was still not enough. Even a patchy performance from Edinburgh was good enough to cover.

YTD : 7-2 (77%) +5.5 Units (+?550 Calculated to a ?100 Unit Stake)

I understand a lot of the readers outside of Europe will not be able to bet these games unless you have offshores based in Europe, and I suspect a lot are withstricted to do so by law. However, with the forthcoming World Cup starting in less than a week, and the Heineken Cup due to restart soon, I suspect all firms all over the world will be offering lines on rugby.

Remember USA and Canada are both involved in the Rugby World Cup.

Back this week, with plenty of bets for the Rugby World Cup, along with Hoss and hopefully others. Come on Anders.....we all know that Kiwis like rugby more than basketball. :moon:

Keep up the great work crooky. Another big winner to end the weekend. I'm really looking forward to following the world cup from over here in the states.

Away from the euphoria of the World Cup, we tend to forget that domestic rugby continues as usual in the UK.

The ultra impressive Ospreys go to Bridgend to face the Celtic Warriors tomorrow afteroon. As both teams are severely hit by international duties, it does not bode well, that a injury crisis has hit the Warriors as well. They got back on track against the Dragons last week, putting in a much improved performance from the night they lost to Glasgow. However, the victory came at a cost. Veteran half backs Paul John and Neil Jenkins will play with injuries, and with doubts elsewhere in the team, it does not bode well.
The Ospreys back line are much better matched than their oppositions, and providing they can win enough ball up front, they are in with a big chance of winning the game. Given seven points on the spread is a opportunity too good to pass up.

1 Point Neath Swansea Ospreys (+7) at 5/6 with Bet365

Celtic Warriors 22-32 Neath/Swansea Ospreys

A easy cover away from the World Cup. The Ospreys proved that they are amongst the best sides at present in the Celtic League. How long can layers continue to underestimate their ability???

Not a time to be travelling to one of Irelands top peforming provinces, when half your squad is away serving international duty, and another batch of players watching from the sidelines carrying injuries. This is the task facing the Warriors tonight, who after promising so much in the early part of the season, have seen a dip in their form.
Ulster meanwhile, will be looking to go top tonight, with Edinburgh facing a daunting game away at the Ospreys. They are able to leave a good few players on the bench tonight, and still field a unchanged team that beat Munster away last week. It is hard to see how the Warriors will compete, especially with the ability of the Irisah province to bring class players off the bench should they be in any sort of trouble.

1 Point Ulster (-12) at 5/6 with Bet365

Back after the game with one for tomorrow.

One to finish the weekend in the Celtic League. The return of Llanelli legend Scott Quinnell to the team will do the Scarlets wonders. Having seen a dip in their form, they will be targeting a big performance tomorrow, and can oblige against a Cardiff Blues team, who are slowly but surely are getting their players back, but were dreadful last week despite beating Leinster convincingly.

1 Point Llanelli (-12) at 5/6 with Stan James

Llanelli Scarlets 35-20 Cardiff Blues

Tough loss last night, as I really expected a 2-0 weekend, but the Warriors did really well out in Ulster to stay within a try. As with the England bet, fortunate to cover with Llanelli, where Gareth Bowen goal kicking proved crucial.

Back next Thursday. :)
