ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? VIN BAKER??? THIS GUY IS DONE...AND HIS PAY IS LUDICRIS....COULD HE END UP REJUVINATING HIS CAREER AND I END UP EATING MY WORDS?? SURE...BUT I THINK THE ODDS ARE THAT THE CELTS JUST HADCUFFED THEMSELVES FOR 3 YEARS FINANCIALLY...LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT...THEY SUFFFER THROUGH ANDERSON'S CONTRACT...THEN HE STARTS TO PLAY PRETT GOOD BALL LAST YEAR...HE HAS THIS YEAR LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT AND THEN THE CELTS ARE FREE FROM HIM...AND THEY TRADE HIM????? I DONT GET IT???...NOW WHO IS GOING TO PLAY POINT FOR THIS TEAM??..DELK? PLEASE NO...STRICKLAND IS GONE...AND THIS KID IS UNPROVEN FROM SEATTLE ...MAYBE IM CRAZY...BUT A TEAM WITHOUT A POINT GUARD ..IS SOMEWHAT LIKE A TEAM WITHOUT A QUARTERBACK...IF THEY THINK WALKER IS GOING TO PICK UP SOME SLACK IN THIS AREA THEY ARE NUTS...HE IS OUT OF CONTROL MOST OF THE TIME WHEN RUNNING THE OFFENSE AND MAKES VERY POOR DECISIONS...I HOPE FOR THE SAKE OF THIS TEAM IM COMPLETELY WRONG...AND BAKER ENDS UP HAVING A GREAT YEAR AND SOMEONE CAN PLAY POINT...BUT RIGHT NOW IM SCRATCHING MY HEAD WONDERING WHAT IN THE WORLD THESE PEOPLE ARE THINKING????? ...COOZ

cooz- the celtics were a big man from the finals- baker is a experienced quality big man, not to many out there. baker has some life left and in my opinion the team to beat in the east know. as far as payroll anderson and co for baker was almost a even swap. congrats and gl next year

interesting that you think this was a good trade ...i agree they were a big man away but im not sure baker is the answer...as far as money is concerened it may be an almost even swap this year but not after year one....anderson would have been off the books and bakers contract increases...i hope he can turn it around ..dont get me wrong...but i have my doubts thunder...and now what at the point????...cooz

I threw up all over myself after hearing about this trade.

This trade is not good in any way shape or form. This ties up their cap for a solid four years. Plus I want to kick the shit out of players who dont hussle. I dont care if you SUCK ASS to be quite honest. One of my favorite old Sox was Marty Barrett. Was he the best 2nd basemen? No. But god damn it he brought it to the park every day, EVERY DAY. Vin Baker is a fat doughboy piece of shite who is not going to get better, and is only going to destroy the chemistry this team has developed.

(of course I reserve the right to jump on the bandwagon if he starts averaging 22/11)

cooz strickland will get most of the minutes. this kid is on the verge of becoming a stud. baker is a head case no doubt. but he is getting a fresh start in his home town. also as he showed against sa last year if he comes to play he dominates. obrien is a motivater who i think at least for next year get a all star performer. the celtics know in there weak conference that with there talent even though there young now is the yime to roll the dice. i really think we will see them in the finals next year.

Look no further than Walter McCarty if you want my pick for a breakout player next year. This kid is a stud, and he is great if for no other reason than to hear Tom Heinson yell WALLLTAHHHH on Celtics broadcasts.

acehistr- I hope you are sarcastic with those McCarty remarks. He is a terrible shooter, makes horrendous decision on the court, doesn't rebound....he does offer energy, hit an occassional three-pter, and suits Boston's trapping defense with his long arms and body. But otherwise he is a career eighth man on the bench.

The Baker trade is a tough one to figure. Baker will be back near his home and that could possibly help the bouts of depression his suffered from the past few years. Looks like Boston is going to play him at center...he will hurt them defensively but offensively if he if he plays anywhere close to his prior form, he will be a huge upgrade in the low-post, especially against teams in the East. Certainly isn't worth the money he is making and it will be tough for him to put-up huge numbers since he will be the third option behind Pierce and Walker. If he somehow reverts to his old form, the trade is a huge winner for Boston, but that is a big 'if'.

Anderson had a decent season last year after a couple dreadful ones since coming to Boston. Delk and/or Williams aren't the answer at point, especially Delk who will run that offense into the ground. Bremer might get a look if he shows anything once the season starts.

Seattle gets rid of a huge albatross of a contract they never thought they could dump, and now will be a player in the free agent sweepstakes a year from now. Anderson is gone after this year and he won't be happy playing backup getting 20-25 minutes per night in Seattle. But he gives Seattle quality depth in the backcourt. Radmanovic will start at PF and gives them another shooter in their starting five....along with Payton, Lewis (if he signs), Barry...excellent shooting team...rebounding and interior defense is another issue even with them resigning James at center.

Basically it's one team dumping a huge contract and enabling them to get a quality, big name free agent next season and the other team taking a gamble on an All-Star caliber player who hasn't played to that form in three years, along with possibly disrupting the team chemistry on a team that nearly went to the NBA Finals.

well said hoops.. Thunder as far as strickland is concerned he is gone...i just hope they have some type of plan regarding the point ...if they dont this team couls very well possibly take a step backwards...i still cant figure out why the Celts suffered through andersons contract...finally got some production from him last year...i think he began to realize what his role was on this team....and he had one year left on the contract and the C's would have had some money to play with ...instead they take on an burdensome contract in a player who hasnt been an all star in 4 years...has had his number decline in each of the successive last 3 years ...and MAY have some psycholgical issues...if he thought Seattle was difficult to play for wait until he gets to Boston...sure coming "home" so to speak may give him the solid support he needs..it may also do just the opposite however...he may feel obligated to produce/play well for the home team/fans etc.. Again i hope this trade turns out to be great for the celts and Baker can get his career going again...but i certainly see this trade as possibly being a disaster and setting this franchise back 3 years ...Cooz
