There are so many games and i am also a little new to CFB that i was considering investing a small amount (maybe $100) on a football software that would help select sides and totals.

Do any of you know any good ones?

You have me in Big 12, as well as Dr Freeze. Countinguy for Big 11. GMan in the Mac. A few others I am surely forgetting. There are some good west coast guys, and of course Scott can always tell you to bet on USC. Lots of SEC folks but seems like they are always contradicting each other so hard to parse the wheat from the chaffe.

well you guys convinced me!

i was just saying that because thats how I bet tennis with a model that I developed and it has been profitable for me, but american football there are way too many variables (plus its a team sport so so many variables) and i dont know enough about it to do it.

so I'll tag along with you and we'll see...thanks

I agree with sun tzu it is prob. a waste of money. Especially since you said you are new to CFB.

My advice is search the forum throughout the week and on gameday for posters who post their plays with analysis. If you agree with the analysis bet the play. This way you know why you are betting a game and not betting anybody's picks blindly. You are making the decision on your own. After a few weeks you will get an idea which posters take the time to explain their picks and you won't need to spend so much time searching the forum. Don't forget, as you are reading other posters analysis, you will be learning their handicapping style. Then you will become a better handicapper.

Good luck this year!

Long winded explanations are irrelevant too. What matters is who wins and loses. I dont think most people care what the explanation is if it wins, and it sure doesnt matter if it loses.
