i tend to agree...much like i believe thet john harbaugh(and his obsession with analytics and 2 pt conversions) hurt the ravens last week(and in the pittsburgh loss)....the ravens had a chance to be down 8 points(that`s one possession,albeit with a 2 pt conversion at the end,which they were going to try at some point barring something odd happening)IF they had let tucker kick the automatic xp after their t.d. at roughly the 10 minute and change mark..instead they went for two and failed...leaving them needing two possessions with around 10 minutes and change instead of one....the key being "possessions"...missing the two point conversion supposedly allowed them to "know that they needed two scores and would adjust accordingly" according to harbaugh.....well,why not go for two every time and then adjust accordingly as the game progresses?...you have the entire game to readjust...i don`t think that `s valid with roughly 10 minutes left in the game...
,it`s my opinion that scoring on two possessions with a limited amount of time left is much harder than needing one score and a 2pt conversion(one possession).....it`s as though harbaugh is afraid of overtime...yes they`re depeleted but they were absolutely dominating the browns in the second half of that game...they had no reason to fear overtime...2 pt conversions are converted at roughly anywhere between 40 and 55%...a justin tucker xp?...it`s as close to automatic as it gets....not to mention the potential momentum shift in a game in which the ravens had taken total control(the ravens missing a 2 pt conversion potentially gives the browns a goose)...
and this is not harbaugh`s first rodeo....yeah,it`s hard to come back from an 18 pt deficit at the half,but they were in the process of doing just that(they shut the browns out in the second half and at that point were in control of the flow of the game)..
used to be points on the board were considered money in the bank...i`m just not a big "strict analytics" fan(unless they`re collated with equal amounts of situational awareness and a feel for the flow of the game)...
harbaugh`s been a successful coach...and theres not a definitve "right or wrong"answer...but i think harbaugh gets these decisions wrong much more often than he gets them right...slow it down,john...
that bugged me...sorry for the rant in your thread(i couldn`t pass up the chance to bitch harbaugh out)......
