Leighton to Norfolk: Goalie Michael Leighton, fresh off four terrific starts, was assigned to Norfolk on Wednesday to make way for Jocelyn Thibault's return to the active roster.
However, it'll likely be Adam Munro starting tonight against the Wild with Thibault set to make his return Saturday at St. Louis.
In his last four starts, Leighton made 46, 32, 39 and 41 saves in going 1-1-2-0.
"He just played the best four games he has played all year," said Brian Sutter. "These last four games, he has been head and shoulders above what he has been at any time this year. Leights is going down to play in some important games."
Norfolk, fighting to make the American Hockey League playoffs, has games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and needs both Craig Anderson and Leighton available.
"I figured I was going to go down sooner or later," Leighton said. "I feel real good about my game, and I talked to the coaches and they're happy too. Right now, I'm going to go to Norfolk and try to help them get in the playoffs."
