SUNDAY'S PLAY:
CHISOX (+125) vs. LA DODGERS -- DOUBLE PLAY
When I saw this number, I immediately jumped all over Chicago. How in the hell can the deadbeat Dodgers be favored -140 over anyone with that awful hitting lineup? This is the lowest scorng team in the league at just 3.4 runs per game. In this game, they face righthander Loaisa who has been on fire recently. Loaisa is 8-2 with a staggeringly low ERA of 1.90. He's gone an average of 7 IP in each of his last five games and has given up one HR. Opponent's are batting .210 against this starter. Perez for Dodgers is a strong starter, as well -- but Loaisa clearly has the better numbers, and get to face the little league hitting machine, the Dodgers. LA has put up these dreadful run totals in their last ten games -- 1, 2, 5, 1, 4, 3, 3, 3, 5, 0.....horrendous numbers. Neither team is playing very well at the moment, both are 4-6 in their last 10 games. But given that we seem to have a slight edge in pitching here, plus at least equal run production, we have a nice value bet getting back +125. Presumably, bettors are pissed at the White Sox as being the worse moneyline team in the majors, but they are showing signs of playing themselves out of an early season slump and should at least play .500 ball the rest of the way. That alone qualifies for a bet on this team anytime they are dogs and go with a go starter like Loaiza.
