Does this mean the banks will be closed on Monday? If so, that really fucks me over and will make for a shitty Christmas. For those who haven't lived overseas, this is the worst time of year to be away from home. Being broke won't make it any better. I really hope Obama didn't just fuck me over. Even if he didn't, how irresponsible is it to make this move the fucking Friday before the holiday?!?! Not to mention the fact that it is blowing nearly a half billion dollars in the current fiscal climate. What a fucking douchebag. :cuss:

Thanks for answering the question and not being smartass douchebags.

let's answer this together, the bank machines will be open, let me know if there is something else banking wise you need to know, sending and receiving money is still very possible :toast:

Damn....that December 24tth really sneaks up on you.

It is only 358 days after January 1st....who can plan with that kind of lead time?

Pretty certain all banks will be open on the 24th as a regular banking day:

Thank you for answering the question! Amazing how many wisenheimers we got around here. I'm still not sure that the banks will be open. I think and am certainly hoping so, but am not positive. The banks are almost universally closed on federal holidays. I'm just not sure if they will be closed on a federal holiday that gets railroaded through at the last minute. :sadwave:

I didn't make it clear, but Obama just made Christmas Eve a federal holiday this afternoon. That's the point. There is virtually no lead time when he pulls a move like this three days before it happens.

The problem is that I get paid through PayPal for my work. I got paid this morning. I requested a payout that always gets processed by my bank on Monday mornings unless it's a holiday. Therefore it is a major screwjob for me if the bank is closed on Monday due to this nonsense.
