Was there ever really a doubt? :0074
I still can't quite believe that Rams put up 36 points in the 4th quarter.... Crazy things happen in the bowls.
For Friday HSF...
No sense in making long in depth write ups for these plays. Really not sure why they are even playing games this late in the year, I guess the lure of being on TV is something they can't pass up....
(12-2) Chandler, AZ Wolves vs (14-1) Valdosta GA Wildcats..... Play Chandler /Valdosta Under 56......2 units *The 6A State / Conference Champs Wolves square off in Dallas against battle tested Valdosta, Georgia's 6A Football Champs. In the heart of istory of its storied program, Valdosta has won 25 state football championships. The Wildcats are 14-1 and have won 9 in a row since the lone defeat to the Colquitt County 45-24...Valdosta opened the season with an impressive record with their first win they became the first high school football program to earn 900 victories. Still, the last state championship was in 1998, so there has been quit a drought.
The Chandler Wolves come in having not played a game in over a month, but having won 10 in a row after a 2-2 start, all the while outscoring opponents by a combined 544-173. Their last loss was a humbling defeat to Mountain Pointe 52-7....Chandler was able to avenge the loss 36-17 in the state final. The Wolves started the year #23 in the Super 25 Pre-season poll and rankings. The other loss early was a shoot - out loss 56-49 to CA Power Centennial (a team that took Bosco and IMG Academy to the brink). QB Jacob Conover passes for 3,444 yards w/29 Tds (completing 71%). Also, in the back field is All Purpose RB T. J Green who has 2,084 yards rushing, w/33 Tds....He is largely considered one of the best Rbs in school history. He averages a whopping 9 ypc and has caught 13 passes for 277 yards w/4 Tds. He has won several Most Valuable and Player of the Year awards. WR Johnny Johnson III had 74 catches for 1,204 yards w/8 TDs (going to Oregon)..... Have to give them credit, because a lot of teams would've closed up shop with the 2 losses early, but instead, they rededicated themselves to winning, changed the defense and started their campaign. In the last 7 games they have averaged offensively 53 ppg while allowing on D 17 ppg.
Valdosta averages 31 ppg while allowing 11. They beat a rival Tucker in a hard match 17-7 in their state final. 1st year HC Rodemaker has a 2QB system installed, QB Josh Belton has thrown for more than 1,300 yards w/15 TDs. His counterpart QB Hunter Holt has passed for nearly 1,100 yards w/12 TDs. The two are also the teams leading rushers. WR Ingram has 16 TDs.
Why the Under? There are several factors that need to be addressed. First is the fact that Chandler hasn't played since Nov 26......the team did take off a week and a half off to regain some energy and focus and to nurse some lingering injuries. 2nd is that other sports are already in their seasons, and many of the ball players are behind in those sports. There will surely be some rust and that will affect the timing, which may throw off the offenses giving the D a big help up. Kiss are worn out after an already long season. They may be more vulnerable to injuries if they haven't been stretching and running enough. These games really don't settle anything but bragging rights. Still, Chandler Coach rushed has been overhyping the "Play to represent our state" angle. Hard to argue against a team with such a dynamic RB as Green who for 252 yards w/6 TDs in his team's semi final. I think the Wolves probably reap the W here but think I like the Under better....
Be back with Aquinas and Bingham pick..
