Coach Marvin Lewis has stated that he would like for the team to have the #1 pick under contract before the draft, unless a significant trade proposal presents itself. It appears the Bengals are looking at C. Palmer, T. Newman, B. Leftwich, C. Rogers and T. Suggs. As of now it appears the Bengals are leaning towards Palmer, but things could change after T. Suggs workout today and B. Leftwich's upcoming workout in April. Suggs and Rogers could be the darkhorses in the race, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Suggs come out on top in the end. Depending on how he does in his workout.

The Bengals have also started their first voluntary offseason conditioning program under Marvin Lewis. The first day drew an estimated 45 players compared to fewer than 10 last year. The organization also spent around $250,000 to remodel and re-equip the weight room under the guides of Chip Morton and Kurtis Schultz, the new strength and conditioning coaches. The stressed importance of an off-season workout program will try to address the concerns of the past of the team being poorly conditioned going into the season-opener.
