There's certainly nothing wrong with not circumcising the baby. If taught how to properly take care of himself with cleaning, etc., he won't have a problem. However, here are some reasons I think it's a good idea:

Sometimes, babies and children can develop adhesions in the foreskin which severly limit the size of the opening and can ultimately cut off urine flow mandating a circumcision. I've seen several kids in that condition, and they were in a lot of pain.

If he ever becomes incapacitated in any way where he can not take care of it (such as from a car wreck or with old age), there are problems. A whole lot of health care workers, nurses and nursing assistants do not know how to properly take care of a foreskin. I have seen them retracted all the way back and not put back into place. This can cause the lymphatic system to be compromised causing the glans to "swell up". I've seen them with a 3-4 inch diameter with the only remedy a circumcision. This is called Paraphimosis if u want to look it up. I had a patient a few months ago with Parkinson's disease who was in this condition, and he was in severe pain.

Babies heal up very fast from a circumcision, and it has been my experience that they don't have too much pain after it is done. However, if a circ has to be done on a child or an adult, it causes a lot of discomfort and pain. If you have your baby circed, he won't ever have these potential problems.

Congrats on your new baby!

congrats and like are top rn said nothing really wrong not having it done, but does run risk of infection. also if you change mind or he does and has it done at a later date i am told because not taught this as a ot but it is much more painfull six-five would know that one he is are rn that makes fun of ot's that can't spell ask his wife :D but it is all up to you also i know this might sound stupid but children can be mean and you will know sooner or later in gym class when they make you shower and someone will spill the beans and it's not fun to be made a joke of at a younger age and kids are like that.

but it is all up to you and mom but just something else to think about on the non health part.

nice job papa to be and mom:toast:

i had the same discussion with my wife....got one on the way in april....

decided NOT to circumcize if it IS a boy....

other than infection....( roll the dice...), i really can't think of ANY arguments supporting to cut off the foreskin?

Boys cross your legs. Handled a botched circumcision case not to long ago. As part of my investigation came across a lot of anti-circ information. Got some people out there real adamant about removing live tissue.

Some literature indicates leaving foreskin increased sexual pleasure. Anti-circ folks claim its barbaric and was initiated at a time when sexual pleasure was taboo.

Based on what I've learned I'd probably keep the helmet on the johnson. Only reason to do it now is for appearance.

Eddie,

It seems that i did not have a choice in this matter.

Any chance that I can sue my parents? Is it possible to get a new foreskin?

I'll take a "covered wagon" anytime.

I say get it at birth...

I didn't and developed problems. I then had to get it done as a young child and believe me it was not fun then. Best to get it out of the way... JMHO...

if the information SixFive offered isn't enough medical reasons, consider that humans really have only bacteria and virus left as natural predators.

can you think have a more inviting place on the male human body to propagate bacteria cultures than the warm, moist, protected area under a foreskin.

personally, i think SixFive was very convincing and summarized everything i ever thought on the topic much better than i can.

throw all the arguments about sexual reasons and female preferances out the window. hey, your son could turn out to be gay (and what a woman thinks won't really matter too much).

grip it, snip it, and be done with it. Absolutely get it done. You can say all you want about the medical end of it but what matters most to anyone on earth....appearance, vanity and crap like that. Bring on all the naysayers, the truth is the kid will want it done eventually. JMO.
Think about this, what the heck are the advantages to leaving it on? The boy gets to play hide and go seek with the helmet? What about his first sexual encounter with a young lass? If you take the way things are going these days he will probably lose his virginity at about 10 years old, how many young ladies have seen an uncircumcised penis when they are young? Very few. So what happens if the poor guy is poised on the cutting edge of the sword of freedom and he has a hat on? The girl gets grossed out and says "eeeeeewwwwwwwww" and homeboy is left "holding the bag" so to speak. Live tissue shmive tissue, boys were born to whack things and that is a good start.
I will tell you this though.....my girlfriend, who is extremely hot I might add, said it would be a deal breaker if I were uncirc'ed, do you want to be the one to blow his chance at ANY hot piece of a**? I think fathers have a certain responsibilty to the wang so to speak. Do the right thing bro. Nothing good ever comes out of wearing a hat, makes you go bald etc..... Besides do how many women do you know that love mushrooms? My ex-wives got them for appetizers every time we went out. Stuffed, fried, in a dip what ever they could get they always ate mushrooms. I on the other hand hate mushrooms. However none of my wives or girlfriends ever ordered mushrooms and then said "hey can you dip that in fungus and some bacteria, with just a spritz of sweat and then bring it to me" and I mean none. You think about poor little junior in gym class changing in the locker room and some guy asks him to put his keys in his hat or something. Just because porn stars don't seem to mind it doesn't mean the rest of the female population is on board with it.
Don't wait bro give the kid every chance in life, be wise and circumcise

this dont make sense fats as alot of your logic dont. If its their first sexual encounter then the girls havnt seen any johnson at all so whats the point.

i hate to ask this, but, what kind of problems?

i know it's a bit of an embarrassing question....but i just wanna know all the info before i make a final decision.

I was so young I don't remember the specifics, but I do remember getting it done. I suppose I could ask my parents?

My bad Scott, forgot you would be reading this so I will try to "dumb it down" a little for you. The only wang they would have seen would have been from a magazine or text book. Feel free to pickup a magazine and tell me how many men are in there with a hat on, and if perchance you do find one it, is quite rare. Therefore "LOGICALLY" speaking the chances of her ever seeing and uncirc'ed penis are as slim as you being able to carry on an adult conversation, so to speak.
By the way King, the proper application of "don't" is in many textbooks also, so when you get to that grade, whenever, please pay special attention to that subject.
If my "logic" doesn't make sense to you, then logically speaking, you wouldn't be reading it let alone enough to actually reply to it. But I understand you are just trying to have fun and prod me a little so that is cool, I have no problem with that. Prod away O ye of feeble mind.
