What a weird card today!!!

I grabbed Wisconsin at +2 last night(bought the point). The line has moved to -1. I am expecting another point or 2 as the public is all over the badgers. Will probably try to middle the game when I feel the number has reached its peak or possibly a Minny Moneyline. I am a true believer that teams are favored for a reason, so someone in Vegas must know something to install the gophers as a 1' point fav.

I am also intrigued by the UNC/VT line. Power rating screams tarheels, but VT is playing great ball and was only a miracle away from knocking off Duke in Cameron, a game which the hokies dominated. Many think VT should be the favorite and is the better team. To be honest I have no freaking idea, but my early lean is on the Tarheels. Probably a no play.

As far as posted plays are concerned:

W. Michigan +3.5 for 2 Units - LOSS
I think very highly of the Akron Zips. They are a deep team with better than usual MAC talent, but Zips head coach Keith Dambrot is 0-6 against the broncos in his career. I don't see that streak ending tonight in Kalamazoo. WMU is playing their 2nd consecutive home game after a brutal travel schedule in December and brings new meaning to "There's no place like home." The Read Fieldhouse should be jumping tonight and WMU will stay within 3' and may even get the W.

Just curious as to why you would buy a point right after a line is released. Buying points in basketball is an unwise practice to begin with, but buying one right after a line release is even more questionable. In this case it might help you middle, just trying to get a feel for why you did this, not trying to be critical.

In regards to the Wisconsin game, I did it for the reason of middling. I knew they line would flop to Wiscy by tip off. Rarely do I take games as they are released. I rather take my time and do my due diligance. As far as buying points, I always buy points no matter what sport. Not quite sure why, I guess its all those bad beats by a 1/2 point in my life. Mathmatically, Is it truly a waste to buy points in CBB?

I'd say buying points is a waste only because the consistent juice hit will outweigh the amount of times those half points and points save your bets. It was astute of you to notice the line would move in this way, Its still a tight middle though. good luck either way, im new to the board, not trying to change the way anyone bets.

That dude is right... you are gonna lose a lot of money by buying a point. If you like a game enough to put money on it, you should never, ever but a point.

(Possible, rare exceptions are in football when you want to get past "magic" numbers like 3, 7, 10, etc.)

All you have to do is the math. Buying a point costs, what? Another 20 percent in vig? More than that? To take that much off of every win, and only win maybe once or two games out of 50 that you would have lost (very crude reasoning, I know), doesn't make buying a point profitable at all.

Good luck on your play tonight...

Not much of a middle? You realize that 0 doesnt count as a number right? Trying to understand the point of laying -120 every chance you get also. Good luck to you!

I guess I am trying to understand why I buy points as well...I have been told (very politely I might add) that this practice is ludacris and makes no mathmatical sense...I have since reconsidered that practice and will no longer do so.

As far as the Wiscy game. I loved the line (+2) when it came out, but after handicapping the game I am not so sure. I think I may just take Minny on the money line (+130) and even the plays out. Won't even lose the juice. and their is still an outside shot at the middle if minny wins by 1. Interesting game though with the line movements and all.

Everybody pounding Wiscy....up to -3....your sitting pretty but you may get another 1/2 point or 1 before Tip. No danger of it going down unless it is a set up by wiseguys. Good Luck, wish I was sitting on that middle opp.
