Vegas baby!
im amazed at the short-term memory loss of the OSU haters...apparently you havent looked at the buckeyes record this year. if you did, you'd see wins against SEVERAL very good teams including blow-out wins against Texas Tech, Washington St and Minnesota. not to mention beating Wisconsin, Penn St and Purdue.

give it a rest, they have played a very strong schedule and proven to be deserving of their current ranking.

i agree a matchup with Iowa would be cool...lets remember, clarett hasnt been 100% since half-way through the season, if he had been 100% throughout the year, we'd be looking at the first freshman ever to win the heisman!

the big ten is consistantly a very tough conference to play in, an undefeated year is an amazing accomplishment.

go buckeyes!!!

flash in vegas:

just a few points. i agree/disagree with some of your post.

1) the big 10 is NOT a good conference. by that, im not saying an undefeated season is not an accomplishment. that'd be ridiculous. but youre talking about a conference that might send only 4 teams to bowls. thats ridiculous. many experts have even said the "big 10 has been down for years". when is the last time a big 10 team sniffer anything NEAR a national title game? its been forever.

2) re: buckeyes schedule. their one good win was the season opener. i will give credit where credit is due. but the washington state win wasnt anything to write home about. they looked like dog shit for the 1st half- and they did what they should have done in the 2h- they outmuscled a weak pac-10 team and defense in washington state. if, as a big 10 team at home, you cant beat a pac-10 team- then you should fold the program. i give the bucks credit for the tech win but not the wazzou win.

3) their road efforts have been a joke. shoulda lost OUTRIGHT to cincinnati. struggled big time with north-freakin-western. were one play away from losing outright to purdue. struggled big time with wisconsin, and coulda lost outright to illinois. NONE OF THOSE TEAMS are good. period.

4) osu has been a good team at home. that i will say for them. but if theyre the #2 team in the nation- then thats a bad sign for the current state of college football.

id like to see the bucks do well. not a buckeye fan by any means, but ive seen so many buckeye teams in the past choke when it mattered most. tressel has them playing well on D, but their offense is a disgrace. for real.

heres what i honestly want- i want ohio state to lose tomorrow for a few reasons- mainly it will save them the embarrassment of getting hammered as a DD dog in the fiesta bowl. we deserve a good national title game, and ohio state in the title game is NOT a good thing. miami would beat osu far more soundly than they beat nebraska last year

i want the bucks to go back to the title game in 2 or 3 years and really have a good showing, when they will have a good team. tressel got some big time recruits in there, but theyre still 2 or 3 years away from being REALLY GOOD. this year, theyre doing it with mirrors.

correct, which goes to show how much the big 10 has declined. with the teams they have, and the areas they recruit- they should have a team in the title hunt EVERY YEAR. period. before michigan, i believe penn state had a good team in the mid-90's, no? so two title-type teams in 10 years?

While yes, Michigan split the national title in 1997, I- as a student at a Big Ten school- think they would've been pasted by Nebraska that year- but who knows???? They didn't play. The Huskers did struggle on D at times that season, so who knows what would've happened?

However, the next season, which I'm surprised no one has mentioned, Ohio State had hands down the best team in the country and they would've routed Tenn. in the Fiesta Bowl. How they lost that game to Michigan State (remember, they rolled a pretty good Michigan team that year in a rare win) is beyond me. Typical Cooper shortcoming, I guess. But that team deserved a shot at the title instead of that sorry-ass Florida State team that played the Vols (they had the same one-loss record). I mean, I went to Wisconsin at the time and they wouldn't have stood a chance against OSU, and they ended up beating a UCLA team that was a national-title contender that season in the Rose Bowl, and they had no business being there over OSU (who went to the Sugar Bowl and had an easy win over Texas A+M, I believe).

Even in 99, Wisconsin had to be considered one of the best teams in the nation. True, they lost two early games, but that was before idiot Alveraz started Bollinger over Kavanaugh. Even Lloyd Carr said after the 21-16 game that he felt lucky Wisky didn't start Bollinger or they "probably would've lost" as he came in and rallied Wisconsin. Say what you want about his career, but everyone has to admit, he was THE MAN that year. I think FSU would've taken them out, but they were, at worst, the third-best team in the country that year, but probably the second-best.

It's true, the Big Ten has sucked ass as of late, but as recently as 99 it had TWO BCS bowl winners (Wisky in the Rose and Michigan in the Orange), not to mention the Rose (Wisky) and Suger (OSU) winners in 98, so it's not like it's conference USA you're talking about. And love 'em or hate 'em, that 1998 OSU team was the best team in the country, and they should have been playing Tennessee for the title that year.

i think "i told you so" is in order....

i think "i told you so" is in order....

give it up...they are going to the fiesta, a much deserved championship berth.

U of M played well, but when it came down to crunch time, the Buckeyes showed why they are the champs.

hellah 10 I have been in this forum much longer than any of you guys who seem to know it all. This forum is here to share info to win bets not show our ignorance or hatred towards other teams. Maybe you will wake up and see that toledo (mayberry) is not the big time. You are a great capper who can not see the forest for the trees.

  Perhaps you should wake up....when I say Ohio St should win based on being Top 5 in recruiting every year...then they should win. Please explain the ignorance in that...

Just like how Texas has the best recruits year after year...they should win.
