The climate of fear set by Bush the last 8 years coupled with the ebbing away of personal rights, the fueling of patriotic fervor, and continued isolationism all contributed to a mindset in this country of distrust, them or us, etc. Any retraction from these radical programs will seem "socialistic" to the extremists. However, you must remember that it was the extremists who used the climate of fear to install these hitleresque programs in the first place.

Yeah, we need to role back the Bush-Himmler tax cuts for the wealthy. Patriot Act = Enabling Act of 1933. Racsim, monopoly on God and country. scary stuff.

Wayne, where is this wager thread you speak of. I might be interested in looking at a wager on Colorado of some sort, but don't know where the 3/1 number comes from. Laying 1/3 odds on any state where the poll lead is 1% away from the usual 4% variance in elections would seem pretty risky, no matter who is running, or where.

I would definitely bet you now, straight up, maybe $20 or so (just for fun) that Obama beats McCain in Colorado. I won't go 1/3, because that makes no wagering sense IMO. If you think McCain has a real shot at winning there, I would think a straight up bet might be a good way to make a statement. No big deal, just speaking to the Colorado discussion and the wagering angle.

There's a great site regarding polls....

There's a great site regarding polls....

fivethirtyeight dot com

They do a great job with the polling numbers we get inundated with.

Regarding CO...they put the odds for Obama winning the state at 89%-11%

More bad news on the AR market drop theory...currently sitting between 350-420 point drop in the Dow today. Add to that most commodities are down, including gold, of all things, and the price of oil is still coming down. Pretty big losses across the board with oil considerations being positive. People who can afford to invest are showing big losses, people who can't are having a hard time making it.

Good luck, John and Sarah.
