Coach?
At some point this season, you will need to remove the Tampax, and start coaching in the second half.
How a team can play like a house o' fire for the first 30 minutes most games, and manage to have the lead......and then come out of the locker room in a complete shell, is beyond me. Still, you have perfected this MO, and when you don't manage to piss the game away, you come as close as you can.
The last two weeks you've had to rely on a defensive back to bail you out, and even then....he's not fucking smart enough to fall down with the ball.
I would just like to ask why you feel an 11, 10, 7, 4, or 3 point lead is safe with 30 minutes of footbal to play? Why do you have your team play safe little '3-and-out' runs for gains of 1 or 2 yards, or even losses, just to take a minute an a half off of the clock, and put your ever tiring defense back on the field?
Then, once you have this well oiled defense out there, you have them play an entirely different 30 minutes of football from what got you where you currently are?
Sure, you have a couple of wins in the last games, and I guess some folks will say that's all that counts, but I wonder.
I wonder things like.....why you wouldn't call a time out with 1:50 left in the 2nd qtr after your defense just stopped the Eagles on 3rd down? Why would you let them run the clock down to 1:15 before they kicked a FG?
At 14-3.......You were already going into your shell, that's why.
Is Arron not able to run the two-minute drill, and get the team down to at least a shot at getting that 3 points back?
Then, at the end of the half, from your own 43 yard line, you just let the clock run out, instead of calling a time out with :01 left, and heaving one to the endzone????? I know....I know......You had to play it safe. The odds of Philly scoring on the last play had to far outweigh the chances of the Packers scoring.
Now, next week in Atlanta.........I seriously doubt we will have a 21 point lead to where you can play your game and get away with it.
That's probably good.
I think the Packers at least stand a chance if they trail all game.
Thanks for listening, Coach!
