Gregg Marshall would be the stupidest person on the world to even sniff at the Alabama job or even think about going there. There is no emphasis on the program to win and no one in their right mind would go there with all the attention to football. Bama hasn't had a decent program since Wimp Sanderson was there and that was after Bear Bryant stopped coaching football at Bama, so suffice it to say, it was the down years for Bama and Wimp's teams weren't that bad, plus he got most good instate kids.

The best job once Wichita St is done and if Gregg wants to go somewhere else, is to go to Tempe and take what Herb had there and bring in the JC kids that Gregg likes to recruit and the lightly recruited kids from Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas/Missouri/South Carolina like he's done @ WSU and formely at Winthrop. This is a guy who got spurned by S Carolina who hired Frank Martin of all people!!

Utah St is still open, DePaul (Bobby Hurley reportedly intested? Yikes), Mississippi St, look for news about Nebraska soon (board/boosters), reportedly hot to get rid of Miles who lost control of his program the last 10 games of the season.

There is always a first. Bama wants to broaden horizons... empires rise and fall. Auburn has Pearl and Bama hates that Auburn will be better.

It's a State of Alabama thing.

By your thinking Florida should not have hired Billy Donovan since they are a football school......What has ASU done in basketball beside having a point shaving scandal in the last 20 years?

I agree....BTW Miss. State hired Ben Howland this past Tuesday....Shame on Miss State for trying to improve their basketball program:mj07:

That's right, I forgot about Howland!! LOL

But seriously. If Bama wanted to improve it's program, why did they hire Grant? Why did they hire Gottfried? Gottfried has done better at NC State and Grant will land on his feet if not get a tv job.

Bama don't give a crap about basketball. They should. And good pt about Pearl being at Auburn and how Bama & Auburn have a rivalry, but in basketball? :mj07:

Bama Basketball is 2nd all time in SEC history in wins & conference titles.

Gregg Marshall needs to come to Bama so Nick Saban can show him how to beat Notre Dame.

We want the best Coach available. Even if it is to coach the Chess Team. RMFT

I would love more than anything to see Bama do well in hoops. I won many a wagers on Bama when they had Leon Douglas, TR Dunn among others on their past teams, but it has sickened me to see them be in the state they have been in basketball for a long time now.

I think Boomer or someone else, Dirty, that's also from Bama, told me a lil over a year ago in a thread I started about Bama basketball that the admin really didn't care about basketball, men's basketball and I remember saying they had about 1/2 a crowd for a televised game I was watching.

But I really doubt Gregg Marshall goes to Bama, unless he gets just sick money that is in the upper echelon of what most college coaches at major programs are getting now, like the Roy Williams, Coach K, Alford, Boeheim, Pitino type money, he won't get even close to what Calipari is getting, LOL!

But I wish them luck and I'll be rooting for them, if they get someone worth a damn.

If Marshall thinks he's got a better shot at a title, final 4 or even tourney appearance at asu vs wsu he's in for a rude awakening.

That would be a huge step backwards for him, if he wants to leave he can do much better.

Brad Underwood the SFA coach deserves a big time job, I'm hoping Texas fires Barnes and goes after him....best record in col bb history after two years as a head coach

Wasn't that Tyndall's first year with the Vols. If so that has go to be a little rough. It's not like he had a ton of talent to work with (with the exception of that guard that was really smooth). I thought he did a pretty good job. Got to be more here?

Barnes will turn UT around, leaves one UT team to go with one that has talent and Barnes recruits the South well.

Intriguing hire was Avery Johnson after several top coaches turned Alabama down, seems to be no faith in Bama admin wanting that strong of a program, for a school that didn't even recruit Avery Johnson and he did just so-so in the NBA and he played at Tex Southern, now he's going to recruit in the south and turn Bama around? I'm not too keen on this move!!

Howland to Miss St is a winning deal!! He's got the eye of the tiger all over again like he had before going to Pitt!!

Very surprised, Steve Lavin didn't get a sniff at ASU, but knowing the AD didn't want a former Pac guy, (Lavin @ UCLA), Bobby Hurley was a hot commodity and endorsed by Coach K and Bobby comes from a great family of coaches. He almost lost his life in a bad accident and players can relate to this cool customer of a coach. I loved watching him as a player because he always laid it out on the line!

ASU will be very proud of the progress Bobby will bring to the program, but they better be patient!

Florida Hires Grant

Florida Hires Grant

Florida bring backs former Bama/VCU HC, Grant to be an asst to Billy Donovan!! This is a good fit as Grant was vital to getting some key recruits before leaving for VCU. Hopefully Billy will stay, but I know the NBA teams will be calling once again but I truly believe Billy's heart is in the college game like his father. But then again I never thought Rick Pitino would go to the pros and glad he went back to the college game after trying the NBA kool aid!

Lots of NBA openings including Orlando once again.
