He strongly stated that the selection of Palin as VP concerned him greatly.

He said in no manner is she ready to be President of the United States.

Powell is really tearing into GOP tactics & the direction of the party. He does not like what he is seeing from his own party.....

Great to hear this former GOP Sect. of State & a very well respected man.

I love it, hilarious. Affirms most of my thoughts about politics, that its mostly bs to pander to the idiot extremists who make up the most of our country.

I am starting to think you are the idiot.

What type of country do we live in......a democracy.

What is a democracy? Majority rule.

If us 'idiot extremists' make up most of this country that is what should rule based off of the founding principles of this nation. Its what out constitution was built upon.

You would actually be the idiot extremist.

A democracy isn't majority rule.

A democracy allows the people to choose while protecting the interests of the minority.

Yes, the most vocal majority of our country is too stupid to see that their beliefs are extreme. We are a country of retards, mostly.

You've sure done a 180 on Powell, wease - some might call it a flip flop

that powell`s isn`t behind this war as much as some others in the bush cabinet.....and that he has already decided not to be a part of any bush re-election cabinet.....as i said, that`s pure speculation.....but,i agree with your comment....he adds a certain level of ...."validity"(i guess for lack of a bettter term)and consideration to this decision..... two leaders(and powell) whose political lives fully depend on this war going smoothly and successfully......i hope it goes well with few serious problems.... :mj07:

http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274240&highlight=Powell

and who cares that colin powell has to much class to publicly respond.....

http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154524&highlight=Powell

and while we`re talking impossibilities and improbablilities here, why not have colin powell run for the republicans?....

i can`t imagine what would happen if colin powell, john mccain or a bill richardson were running......vs either of these guys....

it would be a slam dunk....

i left out hillary on purpose...but as much as i dislike hil, she`d probably whip george like a red headed stepchild is they threw down in a debate...

what a pair.....both parties are clueless...

http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162682&highlight=Powell

that said....c`mon george......you may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but i am a fan of powell and cheney....

This was a great, Meet The Press... questioning was tough from both points... personally feel Powell lost credibility when he walked with bush & cheney...... despite the intelligence that "fooled" all parties, left and right and internationally, he should have known .... It's nice to have it but will his endoresment change anything ? Don't think so ...... I did like Powells reasoning for supporting Obama.... It was simple to those that agree/get it ..... To those that think : America belongs to them, it made no sense... The part about , what Obama could do for the world had to TERRORFY THEM ... Going foward, as in the past.... America is as good as our bottom and the rest of the world.... Get over it, at least think about it ... The arrogance of some in America, doesn't project the picture of who we are , who we have been and who we should aspire to become.... (I think Powell will take this war to his grave, this endoresment is more for his sole and peace of mind than anything else. ) Americans died for nothing... Powell if anything, is a leader with a conscience.... I wouldn't wish his mental anguish on bush/cheney !

Colin Powell was in a no win situation when having to explain the position of the Bush administration and the lead up and movement to war with Iraq. A military man, that most people look to as a great patriot and probably worthy of the Presidency himself, that aligned himself with the Republican administration when asked, now says Obama is the choice.

How surprising now (not) that Weasel tries to make light of him. Can't wait to hear Hannity, Rush, etc. go after him this week.

I guess all that's left is for the white dudes who say they are not racist in this forum to say, "Of course he picked Obama...why wouldn't he...he's black."

Nice to see that Powell is the man I thought he was before he had to carry the water of the Bush administration - the only people who could come close to tarnishing a great reputation like his.

Way to go, Wease...try to make light of Powell at this point, how totally expected of you. Thanks, Bobby, for showing the hypocrisy of Wease in this case.

Would agree Chad- I personally like Powell---

his backing of O is not surprising in the least.

--but believe he should have been up front about it-
you don't say on one hand --its not about race--and an that electing an African-American US president would be ?electrifying? on the other.

his reasons to vote for O was because of "personal attacks by gop " -you know how that translates

Have read several aticlles on interview with Powell and he has yet (like everyone else) made any case for O per qualifications--yet dissed Palin for VP for same lack of experience?

Hate to quote Rush--but believe he said it best--on Powells remark its not about race--

"OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with." :)

It translates that he was chewed up and spit out by Bush, Cheney, Feith, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Rice and many others in the GOP.

*Then* he was paraded out to sell their utter incompetence to the world via a riduclous UN speech.

Yeah, I might be a little bitter also, if I was him.

He has said in the past that that UN speech is a huge blot on his reputation and legacy and he greatly regrets it.

Tell me who else in this pathetic administration has accepted even a modicum of accountability for Iraq and the, uh, 'misinformation.'

Crickets chirping? Yeah, I hear 'em.

Are you going to denounce the 90+% of blacks who voted for Obama in the primary as being racist as well? Or is that card only played one way?:0corn :0corn :0corn
