College Foots: 71-74-3 (-47 units)
HSF: 28-23-2 (-2.2 units) Let's get it started.... Need to turn things around. Have done pretty well on halftime wagers so will try to add when I can.

Tonight 11-1

Broncs TT Over 40..4 units.. WIN.. .. *Potent offense playing a team that isn't the same defensively as we have seen in past years. Broncs know that they have all eyes on them after Boise fell. Style points count. Go Broncs

I have been trying to figure that out myself. Some of the games that post on the rotation don't make a lot of sense. Must be someone with high school connections to Co and WA though. I was surprised I couldn't find a line last week with Long Beach Poly playing IMG Academy.

Usually only post lines for nationally televised HS games on ESPN, Fox Sports, Root Sports or Altitude.

So much for Zips forgetting where the end zone is...

HSF: 11-3 & 11-4

Thurs Night...

From the Lone Star state...

Desoto Eagles - 16' over South Grand Prairie...LOSS... 1 unit... *Some very good talent on both sides of the ball, and on both teams. Much is being made about Warriors All-State DB Jeffrey Okudah who is one of the best in the state and possibly nation. He has several offers. Another DB in the same backfield is Atanza Vonger a class of 2018 baller who already has 9 Div 1 offers (including Alabama, Michigan, and A & M)

Desoto has their fair share of Div 1 athletes with 7 Seniors ranked in the State Top 100. On offense, Desoto is potent and averages 48.9 ppg. QB Shawn Robinson (headed to TCU) has rushed for 61 attempts for 547 yards, averaging 9 ypc. He throws the ball all over the field and has 5 different WRs with over 300 yards. The Oline is strong and athletic. He is a very dangerous dual threat.

QB for South GP is a Soph, who was put in after an injury to the starter. His numbers aren't bad but he is still learning and Eagles will be pinning their ears back. Desoto only allows 15.4 ppg in a league that features Cedar Hill.

Bottom line is that Desoto will earn its 21st consecutive playoff birth with the W. It's seeking its first perfect season to in conference since 2013. The Warriors have lost 4 straight and I feel confident that this will be number 5. Simply too much offense and can't trust SGP to hold serve. Should win by 20+......small lean to over..

Pomona/Cherokee Trail Over 42'....2 units..WIN... *I really like this Pomona (8-1) team as they have treated me well this year. I have had write ups in previous weeks, feel free to go back and find my notes. The offense averages 35.8 ppg. This isn't any type of rivalry as Cherokee Trail is new to the conference. Cherokee Trail (5-4) averages 28.4 ppg. Both teams run the ball well with Pomona averaging 195 ypg on the ground. Cherokee average 191.8.

Pomona is actually the #1 ranked team in 5A in Colorado. Pomona has the better D holding opponents to 11.67 ppg. The Cougars hold to 18.67.I look for Pomona to put an exclamation point on the season and get geared up for the 5A playoffs where they will move doubt meet Valor Christian again. This number is low, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Pomona cover the number by themselves. They will probably beat the chalk to at - 17', but unless it's raining cats and dogs I think the over is a strong play. Gl

Tonight: 11-3

Arkansas St / Georgia St Under 46'.... .LOSS... 3 units... *I simply can't trust these two Sun Belt teams to exhibit much offense here. I've been burned before asking Sun Belt teams to go over, so I can't, I won't bet the Over so lets try the under.

Iowa St +20' over Oklahoma..WIN... . 4 units.. *You would think that the Cyclones would be a good go against this late in the season with any chance of a bowl bid gone. However, the opposite is true. These kids bring their A game each week, but just seem to come so close.

Cyclones are a healthy 5-1 ATS in last 6. They seem to play better at home too. In games against Baylor, Okie St, and recently KSt, they had opportunity to win each game. In fact, last week against Wildcats they put together 493 total yards against a pretty good defense. Cyclone QB Park should be able to move the ball through the air, as Sooners gives up 315 passing yards pg. Final Note: Sooners are beat up and will be without their two best RB. In fact, Oklahoma has only 1 scholarship player (a FROSH) for this game. That would appear to make them fairly 1 dimensional. I think Cyclones can stay within the challenge here.

COLORADO - 1'......4th Quarter... WIN.... 3 units.... I've had some success backing mountain teams in the 4th Q when the flat landers come to town. That mile high air seems to work against the visitors, so will try it here.

BOL

Good thing I tried to middle that Desoto game..... Just lost the juice.

Add 2 units to Over 45..LOSS ..Pomona /Cherokee Trail.

*The Sun Belt is frustrating. Missed the under by the hook. Very frustrating!

Be back with the rest of the HSF plays for tomorrow.

2 HSF Totals: 11-3

Dematha/Our Lady of Good Counsel Over 50...I unit... LOSS. .. *The 5th ranked national Dematha Stags try to stay undefeated against their long time rival OLGC Falcons. This is the 7th time in the last 9 years that this game is for the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference crown. These two Maryland powerhouses have tremendous history, in the last 6 prior meetings for the league title game the teams have split. Between the years of 2009-2012 Falcons won all four. Still, Dematha has won 8 titles since 2003. Good Counsel coach Bob Milloy was inducted to the Maryland Hall of Fame for his commitment and successes. In last years contest Stags won convincingly 48-17.

While I kind of expect more of the same score as last year, it's important to note that both teams actually met twice, once for league and again in the playoffs. Dematha won both, however, the second contest was contested 28-23. These two always seem to hook up twice a year. Both teams score often, with Stags averaging 40.6 ppg and Falcons averaging 27.4. The Defenses are also affective with Stags holding opponents to 12.44 and OLGC 18.67.

Neither team is enamored with the pass, both have big Oline, the Stags Oline averages over 280 lbs. Dematha QB Beau English is headed to Air Force. He will pull the ball down and hit the open lanes to help boost a run attack averaging 256.7.ypg. The team lost their best RB, who broke his fibula in a preseason affair. TB Anthony McFarland was/is one of the country's most sought after rbs. The team returned 10 starters and DE Chase Young (headed to Ohio St) anchors a strong D. The Falcons also have their fair share of Div 1 prospects. They return 12 starters with almost the whole Oline is back. Defense LB Ayinde Elez (headed to Maryland)... The team does have youth in the back field.

Dematha is rolling and I'm not sure Falcons can stop them. The 14' is a tricky number, and anything can happen in these rival games. I do like the Over here as both teams can score and 50 is reasonable.

Paloma Valley / Heritage.... Over 59...2 units..LOSS (Note: I'm not exactly sure how a team can average 55 ppg in Latin 6 games, yet get shut our for 3 quarters, and the only score come by way of special teams... Embarrassing Coach) Will add 2 more to this for a total of 4 units... *I'm going to go ahead and call this my Degen HSF Total of the Year..
.
This is the battle of unbeatens. PV Wildcats are 9-0 facing rival Heritage Patriots also 9-0. I had to call my buddy down in Yucaipa to get the low down on these two. He has seen both play and feels that this one is headed to a shootout. Offensively, Patriots average 40.7 ppg while Valley average an eye popping 55.9 ppg.

These two play from different scripts. Heritage is a ball control running offense averages 283.8 ypg on the ground. Wildcats like to throw the ball around average 282.3 ypg in the air. Paloma gunslinger Chance Nolan, a Jr, has passed for 2493 yards and thrown 33 Tds. Wildcat offense has cruised for 55 points or more in their last 5 games.

Heritage hasn't lost a league game since joining the Sun Belt conference in 2010. They have won 34 consecutive Sun Belt wins in a row. This includes 6 straight conference titles. As you could guess, this one is for the league championship and a higher seeding in the section playoffs. The Wildcats feel this is their year to upset the apple cart. Senior RB Corey Maddox runs for 170.9 ypg and has 23 Tds on the ground. On the other side RB Sherod White a Jr RB averages over 100 ypg. Both teams have aggressive Olines.

Heritage D has only allowed 67 points all year. PV has given up 113. While both defenses should be commended for their play, neither Defenses have played against teams with high octane power. There are a lot of the same players on the field that played in last years 35-42 final. In fact the last 3 years each game has gone over 60 very comfortably. I expect more of the same tomorrow.

The chalk opened up at Heritage -7 and is up to 9'...if it goes over 10 I will place a unit on the underdog but for now Im satisfied with the Over.. BOL.

Note : Pomona total now at 47.....don't say I didn't warn you. Also, the Paloma Valley total now around 61, I was able to put a couple of units (at different times at 59 & 59'. I put 2 more on it at 60.If the Pomona total goes up more, I may try another middle attempt.

Tonight College:

1. RedFowl +3' over CMU.. WIN. .. 5 units... While I respect CMUs game, I really like Miami here at home. Lady MO is on their side. 2 teams moving in different directions. CMU is -5 in turnover margin the last 2 games. That affects your psyche. Redhawks dormant run game has thawed, averaging over 200 yards in each of last 2. In addition, the offense has scored 68 points in last two also. Since, QB Gus Ragland took over the reigns he is completing 60%of his passes for 571 yards, w/6 Tds and no picks. While both need a win to go bowling, Miami needs to win out the rest of the way. Give me the MO!

Boise -29 over San Jose St... 3 units... LOSS .. Gonna ride with a pissed off Broncs on the Smurph Turf here. I simply don't see SJSU scoring more than 10 here and I expect the Broncs to get to 40+. Coach has no doubt harped on importance of winning big to help get to a significant Bowl now that the air is out of the tires. Of course, Broncs could come out and lay an egg if they haven't put to bed last week's upset, but I think the former is more in order.
