New Mexico v. San Diego State
Lobos got a crucial victory @ Wyo. despite the loss of QB McKamey in the 1st half. UNM's ground attack grinded out the win.
Aztecs have been erratic all year and sure enough - after playing horrid @ a putrid UNLV squad - they upset a mediocre Utah team on the road. Go figure.
It looks like McKamey will start in San Diego but the key is RB Moore. He should be able to get his share v. a decent SDSU D unit but their strength is in the secondary.
SDSU may get RB Hamilton back and he's a key to their O but QB O'Connell has picked up the slack and is more of a rush threat. I like O'Connell but the key to blunting the Aztec pass attack is containing Webb.
Lobo D is not as good as in previous seasons but they still make big plays and while a running QB does present problems they are capable of keeping SDSU from trading scores.
Now, there is cause for concern for the backer of either team as both have been inconsistent on the year and both are positioning themselves behind TCU - as 2nd place is up-for-grabs in the MWC. It should be a close game but I think New Mexico pulls it out.
New Mexico +2.5
Also...
Southern Mississippi +1.5...Golden Eagles still makes plays on D. Allmond is a serviceable signal-caller and should throw well against a suspect UAB secondary...Hackney is overrated.
