TODAY: MARLINS

Where: Coors Field.

When: 7:05 p.m.

TV/radio: Fox Sports Net. KOA-AM (850).

Probable starting pitchers: Denny Stark (1-2, 3.82 at Class AAA Colorado Springs; first career appearance against Florida) for the Rockies vs. Brad Penny (3-1, 4.28; 3-0, 2.08 lifetime against Colorado) for the Marlins. Stark will be making his Rockies and National League debut. He was acquired from the Mariners during the winter in the Jeff Cirillo trade, and will be activated on the 25-man roster before tonight's game. He will start in place of Shawn Chacon, who is on the disabled list because of a strained pectoral muscle. Penny was skipped from his most recent start because of an inflammation in his right biceps.

Denny Stark (NR) makes his first start for Colorado. Stark was acquired along with two other pitchers from the Seattle Mariners in December for third baseman Jeff Cirillo. The 27-year-old righthander was called up on Friday when Shawn Chacon went on the disabled list and was 1-2 with a 3.82 ERA in Class AAA Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League.

Stark went 1-1 with a 9.20 ERA in four appearances with Seattle last season and is facing a National League team for the first time.

from ticker:

After missing a start with a sore elbow, Brad Penny returns to the mound as the first-place Florida Marlins begin a 14-game road trip with a four-game set against the Colorado Rockies.

Penny hasn't pitched since May 2, when his elbow flared up in a 9-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The injury forced him out of the game after two innings, in which he threw only 38 pitches, allowing five runs, but just one earned.

The right-hander threw on the side Friday and said he felt better than he has all year in a workout session.
