Colts QB Andrew Luck out 2-6 weeks with abdominal injuries

Nine games into a season already littered with tests and trials, the Indianapolis Colts were dealt their biggest blow Tuesday afternoon: Star quarterback Andrew Luck, victim of a lacerated kidney and partial tear of an abdominal muscle, is out two to six weeks.

The injuries were sustained on a pair of bone-crushing hits Luck absorbed on the first play of the fourth quarter in the Colts? 27-24 victory Sunday over the Denver Broncos. Luck scrambled from the pocket, only to be sandwiched 4 yards later by Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan and defensive end Vance Walker.

Speaking to the media earlier Tuesday, Colts quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen ? the man who works more closely with Luck on a daily basis than any other ? had this to say about his pupil?s propensity to try to do too much, to take too many risks, to too often try and become Superman.

?He?s so darn competitive,? Christensen said. ?He doesn?t want to go down, he doesn?t want to slide, and he doesn?t want to throw the ball away.?
